2024 US Presidential Election

Maybe all of his supporters in 2020 injected bleach laced with ivermectin... now it's just the relatively level headed folks who remain?

Trump plays stupid games, and he will most certainly win stupid prizes.
Neat thoughts!

Also, reading the link you submitted suggested that both senior citizens and women are coming out strong for Harris. Young folks are also turning out for her as she offers something *new* and would be the first female president.

You can't discount how much the republican fucking with Abortion rights has galvanized voters who are seeing the real impact that bad policy has on their personal health decisions.

If anything, take it as a vote against christian extremism, and a desire to topple patriarchy.

It made me think. Wonder how many voters are thinking about ivermectin, or even covid. Probably close to none in swing states

DJT is such an agent of chaos that his most flagrant fouls get smothered by the next hour's news cycles. The real chaos he's sewn in his wake has been incredibly destabilizing while also pulling the focus away from actual issues that effect every day people. We're all caught up in this cult of personality grudge match, while at the end of the day, our health care system got burnt out by CoVID's poor leadership and the slog of electronic health records causing productivity bulwarks that capitalism keeps pushing through - our economy is being drained by the vampiric effect of cryptocurrency and gambling, and our workforce is highly specialized in ways that make it difficult to build oneself up without taking on insane levels of debt, which further causes people to become increasingly housing insecure. This is all compounded by the very real problem that immigration caused by climate change and political instability elsewhere is causing in our social welfare system that is essentially a tattered trashbag over a window against a hurricane. Oh yeah and we're trillions of dollars in the red.

Aka quantitative easing
Um, no. Fiscal stimulus.

This Iowa poll is making the rounds. Other pollsters doubting it.

Not trusting any polls. Cell phones have made them (still) flawed and they are being gamed. So, I'm sure both sides are doing that now.

Not many. A quite effective chant/response to, "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago." is, "One and a half million Americans dead from Covid." You see wheels turning.

I'm reposting this because I think it is the most intelligent and nuanced discussion of the pros&cons of both candidates that I've heard in this entire election season. I strongly encourage anyone who cares about the future of the USA to listen:

Um, no. Fiscal stimulus.
the COVID cash would be considered fiscal stimulus but the indiscriminate printing of dollars and purchasing of securities & assets and repo operations would be considered QE. They also cut rates to near 0% for the first time in my memory.

So.... Yea QE.

Just going by the fact that the post I responded to was in a part of the thread speaking specifically about Covid cash, actually using that term.
:)

It's incredibly depressing that a clearly deranged and grim person like Trump should be supported by millions of people WTF

I know it's complex, and that other choices aren't ideal, and I know we're no 'better' over the pond, but still. Are you having a fukkin laugh? Close to unbelievable. World is so dumbed-down it's difficult to envisage any political solution whatsoever

I get the feeling that a lot of people's pro-Trump posts arent gonna age well at all. I don't blame anyone for getting sucked in / manipulated though

Barring bad-actors, the whole fucking world is dreading a second Trump term.

I'm fairly certain that if ~45-50% of the u.s. populace isn't dreading a second trump term that "the whole fucking world" isn't dreading a second trump term.

I guess the warhawks probably aren't too fond of the idea though.
