2024 US Presidential Election

And you buy this? Come on man, a rhetoric of unity means the square root of fuck all. Do you not remember Obama and the whole 'hope' nonsense? I do. I remember doing some charity work at the time and meeting a young American woman co-worker who bought that shit up wholesale, and I told her she would be bitterly disappointed at the results. It's all subterfuge. Like Labour here, they make those gestures and the instant they get into power it's business as usual for the ruling class.

Unity isn't built with empty words from politicians. All they can do is lay the foundation and the public builds, you can't simply vote your way to better psychology. That's like screaming at plants to grow better when you've done nothing to prepare the soil.

And are they preparing the soil? For the next generations? Nope. No house building to bring prices down, no laws to prevent corporations buying up housing stock, inviting millions of foreign people to come here and then paying for them to be jammed into the pressure cooker, no incentives to encourage young people to start families. In fact when you take a high level view, they seem to be doing almost everything to make life more intolerable, more expensive, more restrictive, to discourage the next generations from aspiring to be anything more than a techno-feudal slave.

This isn't a dig at you, but holy fuck man come on. These cunts are obviously beholden to loopy ideologies that have absolutely nothing in common with unity as we understand it as human beings. It's just buzzwords and catchphrases to garner our consent to agree to be fucked ever harder. We should be rejecting the whole lot; there is nothing to be gained by giving our support to a bunch of crusty coffin dodging establishment hacks who are so far removed from the real world it beggars belief.

I don't want 'unity' with what they're selling.

Of course there are mountains of deceit beneath any politics. And none of the candidates are good enough that i would've voted for them. I consider legalization of all drugs a bare minimum for any vote to be justified.

But at face value the choice between a power hungry stranger who is clearly disturbed and one who can at least appear reasonable is easy.

The people who call us dicks that you referenced enjoy all the benefits our dickishness has brought the world. I have no problem pointing out the times we've fucked up but it's a little hypocritical to live a lavish western life like we do and pretend you aren't also complicit.

This is just everything wrong with our current paradigm. 'Defending democracy'.. yeah, ok.

The left used to actually be anti-establishment and justifiably so, but somewhere over the past two decades its balls have dropped off. Now it's just about supporting one token establishment politician who preaches 'unity' as a means to stop the other token establishment politician.. because fascism, nazi, white supremacist, bla bla.. all so the left can feel virtuous, that they feel like they're doing something. They can say "Hey, we stopped the proto-fascist or populist candidate".. at the cost of voting in some dickhead who just continues to undermine and sell out the foundations of the country on behalf of the ruling class.

That's not defending democracy at all. That is a counterfeit. And I would level the same accusations should the right/trad-right/etc ever swing the pendulum the other way. It's all bollocks.

Like, we don't even actually have democracy for fucks sake. That's the crux. That's what we should be talking about, not fighting over personality types of political candidates. Sometimes I get the impression many of these pundits and people on the left actually know what I'm talking about here, but are simply too afraid to confront it so they choose to play this phony pantomime that the ruling class has offered up for us as substitute.

I was joking, in the general sense that he posts online about drugs and related sketchy stuff, but apparently has terrible OpSec. He's one of us degens in that regard. :)
