2024 US Presidential Election

But, if you consider that it's true, it's really not different than calling Trump a "felon".

Ya gotta admit, "She ain't black." is a little strange.
Not even sure what her genetics are. It doesn't matter. I think she may have experienced prejudice in he life. She certainly is now.
As usual, closer examination causes one to shake their head at the twisted mental gymnastics required to produce the sound bite/talking point/tactic and people don't normally do so until somehow prompted to.

So, what's a mother to do?
Except it isn't the white GOP members saying this, it's grassroots black Democrat voters making this claim (in Chicago). It's not a "Birther" claim, it's an "Uncle Tom" claim. They say she is Black in name only, and only when it benefits her. They ares saying that they have supported the Democrat Party faithfully but when it came to the migrant problem she chose the migrants over "her own" black community. She was in charge of they border (despite her claims that she wasn't) and she did not manage that well at all. The money that was promised to help improve the south side mostly black community has been diverted to the migrants and they are pretty pissed about it. I can't speak for them, but I have heard their voice. You can choose to ignore this if you wish but come November she will feel this if she doesn't change both her messaging and her actions.

They are also pretty darn mad at the Mayor of Chicago as well for the same reasons but he is not up for re-election.

So the thing, is she is losing black votes in the grass roots arena. All candidates need this vote in Chicago because they are a very sizable portion of Chicago voters. Chicago carries the state due to it's dense population and has been solid Democrat as long as I remember. This can change in this election cycle if trends continue the way they are presently headed.

these young fucks don't get it

some of them think that going further and further left equals freedom - and it doesn't - it's the opposite of freedom

once your freedom of speech is limited, that's your first sign that you're headed the wrong way

Yeah I mean Kopala is obviously biracial, so she is black. Just like white people who are only partly Irish or partly Italian or whatever still claim to be that.

The problem for me is just the obsessive focus on identity politics. At times in her life when drifting away for her blackness benefited her, she did. Like when she was a law and order attorney general and during her past presidential campaign when she was branding herself as a more centrist option. There was little to no talk/excitement then of her being the first female black president, not that I remember.

But now that she needs it to drum up support and enthusiasm, thats all we are talking about. She needs that historical element to her campaign, so she's leaning into it now.

she doesn't look black that's for sure

and it really doesn't matter what she is - she sucks either way

And just so you guys know, I've never voted for Trump

I'm just a moderate lefty that the too far left abandoned

@mal3volent is too - there's a lot of us too and the left now, needs to take a good look at itself and realize that they're dropping the ball vs somebody like Trump

You must really fuckin suck if you can't beat trump

Except it isn't the white GOP members saying this,

I'll pay attention to to polls and the word on the street where I live. Rueters is a bit misleading with the polling, citing general polls after mentioning black polls.

^^^^^
"An Angus Reid Institute survey of 1,743 registered voters, conducted between July 23 and 25, shows that Harris, the presumptive 2024 Democratic nominee, is 2 points ahead of the former president (44 percent to 42) with just over three months until November's election.

When broken down further, the polls show that more than two-thirds (67 percent) of the 226 Black voters surveyed said they intend on voting for Harris at the 2024 election, compared to 12 percent who said they will be backing Trump."

I live in a mixed neighborhood and I've seen nothing but excitement about Harris, but what you said does worry me. I'll pay attention.

Just remember, Hilliary was up like 4-5 points in most polls. 😐
It's all about turnout, always has been. There were enough attacks (like this one ^ against Hillary that many Dems stayed home)

Anyway, to rehash what I said about polls...
I think the biggest reason for undependability in the polls is that they still use cold calls a lot.
A lot of people won't answer a number they don't know. Especially young people.

IMO, there is quite a bit of excitement about Harris with younger folks. They would be the ones most likely to fall through the polling cracks.
I think she would surely win if the election were tomorrow.
However, young people are the least dependable voter. The excitement could die down a little and they don't go to vote.

We'll see. The Dems have often snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Fingers crossed.

Harris secures enough votes to be Democratic nominee for president

"Vice President Harris has passed the threshold needed to become the Democratic presidential nominee in a virtual roll call vote on Friday.

“I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for President of the United States and I will tell you, the tireless work of our delegates, our state leaders, and our staff has been pivotal to making this moment possible,” Harris said on Friday when she passed the threshold, adding that she will officially accept the nomination next week once the virtual voting period is closed.
"

let the HDS begin!

Yeah, that's why people stayed home and didn't vote for her... because I called her Hilliary.

Perhaps if the DNC and her hadn't colluded against Bernie we'd be living in an entirely different timeline... a less orange one.
(sigh)
I was talking about the "she turned black" thing.
Her response... "Say it to my face" ⬇︎⬇︎

We'll see. He'll debate... because he has to. But he'll weasel for an advantage. Because he's scared.
He doesn't have any more weaseling material, she's the nominee.

"Weird" might be the new "Lock her up". The crowd ate it up.

@alasdairm "HDS" lol.

As an FYI. I voted Bernie in the 2016 primary and would love to see him as President.

I just wish he'd quit calling Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism.
