2024 US Presidential Election

you do realize that inflation and cost of goods are two really complex topics that are not really under the control of a president, and that trump has 0 elucidated plan for "makin stuff cost less" -- There's ample evidence that a lot of what we are experiencing stems mainly from corporate greed/price gouging rather than the inflation itself.

Only one party works at all with corporate accountability, and it sure as fuck aint the repubs. Other than that - if we had had Don or any other R our recovery from the pandemic would have been terrible, and we'd likely still be suffering from much higher rates as well.
Trump tried to refinance the national debt when interest rates were near historical lows and congress blocked it. Now we have to refinance it at much higher rates and just our annual interest payments are already near $1T, more than the entire defense budget. How does that NOT cause inflation?

I get that, if it were one isolated video. But there are what 5+ now where he is being led around or looking confused? Are they all deepfakes, manipulated etc ?
Ya, like I said, I wasn't referencing that video. I wasn't referencing Biden, just political propaganda in general.

I think Biden needs retirement for sure... it's almost a mockery of him and our government..... and I can say the same exact thing about Trump.... this is kafkaesque nightmare.

I'm just saying, it's really easy to manipulate people in mass due to the internet. What used to take 10 years of state sanctioned propaganda now takes 48 hours of semi-viral social media posts.

We are certainly at the cusp of the "information age".... it's all downhill from here.

Although in a very ironic way, Biden's age related confusion is a very strong highlight on how the US president is nothing more than a puppet for the real people who run this country. Biden could be a fuckin hologram and this country would run just fine.

Trump tried to refinance the national debt

i don't get a medal for calling the fire department after setting my neighbour's house on fire...

during trump's term, the national debt increased by almost $8B. the self-proclaimed "king of debt" claimed he could reduce the entire national debt in 8 years. thank god he didn't get the chance.

trump oversaw the 3rd largest primary deficit growth in the nation's history. his 2017 tax cut, far from paying for itself as he claimed it would, was a significant factor in the increase.

You know why, but you won't say

It's like that time you simply tried to blame red states for more shootings, but ignored that it's because of blue cities in those states in which the majority of shootings were committed by a demographic that votes 90% blue

it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic, right?

in any case, the initial premise of your post - "Trump tried to refinance the national debt when interest rates were near historical lows and congress blocked it" - makes little sense.

the u.s. national debt is not callable debt - like a regular retail mortgage - so you'll have to explain what you mean when you say "refinance the national debt".

Typical Trumpian trash

90%? really?

largest city in mississippi is jackson
  • democratic mayor chokwe lumumba won with 55% of the vote.
  • democratic representative for district 2 (covers most of jackson) benny thompson won with 60% of the vote

largest city in louisiana is new orleans
  • democratic mayor latoya cantrell won with 64% of the vote
  • democratic representative for district 2 (covers pretty much all of new orleans) troy carter won with 77% of the vote

i'm sensing a pattern here already so i'll stop.

the large cities tend to lean (sometimes heavily - 77% is no joke) democratic but it's nowhere even close to 90%.

also, for example, jackson has a population of ~146,000 which is just 5% of the total state population. so would gun crime figures from jackson disproportionately skew, especially with other cities taken in to account, the overall state number? probably. but even if everybody in jackson voted democrat, there are still 2.8 million other people who live in that red state with the highest incidence of gun death per capita.

if you would like to suggest to what extent the city figures impact the state figures, i'd love to read your analysis.

this is why I've really disengaged with politics.... because of Trump vs Biden 2.0

it's honestly quite depressing

singlehandedly the main thing that made me lose faith in the system

I checked out....

I might go back to one of those old flip phones with no social media. I heard they're coming back into style.

If humanity doesn't address environmental problems in general and the climate crisis in particular very soon, none of the other issues we bicker about will matter anyway.

I'm old. I'll be dead in 10 or 15 years, so it probably won't affect me and I don't have kids to worry about. But anyone who has children or plans to have them should be extremely concerned.

I genuinely can't understand how they think running biden again is a remotely good idea

There is no climate crisis, it's bullshit and nothing more than a ruse using 'science' to pave the way for global governance.

You only need look at the solutions proposed by the global elite, under the guise of the WEF, to see that it is. Nothing is going to change, other than severely restricting everyone's lifestyles and treating us like literal cattle. Consumption and materialism will still run on, destroying the actual environment that matters. They have absolutely no plans to do anything about that. It will just be a form of hyper-technological communism.

Then when the climate doesn't go bad (which it was never going to) they can claim they were successful.

Call their fucking bluff. Living under the system they have in mind will be worse than death.

The US is seriously fucked.

Your choices are a convicted criminal with a serious cluster B personality disorder, or a child groomer whose mind is clearly slipping away at a rapid rate and probably won't survive his entire term. A vote for Biden is basically a vote for Kamala Harris at this point. Maybe America will get its first female POTUS after all.

Well I guess I know who your voting for.
The sane choice for preserving democracy in our country that isn't a craven pandering populist, obviously out to make us an early 90's russian federation style oligarchy/theocracy - whose own attorney general today had to acknowledge today that he regularly called for people to be executed??

that sells bibles with the constitution in them? (and bangs porn stars while committing crimes to steal elections while his wife is at home w child)

That may be true on a political level as it is distorted in ways. No crisis yet in a scientific way. But scientifically speaking here is the thing, our sister planet Venus has a surface of 900 degree F and in most science books, shows, documentaries say the planet had oceans at one time. Then greenhouse gasses locked the heat in more and more and the oceans evaporated and the planet just way too hot now to even think of landing on a surface. Everything would melt or burn up. The cause being greenhouse gasses. How can things like that be completely ignored except by scientists? I mean objective scientists. Not political ones. While there are misrepresentations (like this darn heat wave hitting parts of the US is not part of the "climate crisis") there truly are measurable ways in other areas of the earth that can show the statistics of continued warming. At least that is the info fed to me and I'd like to think in scientific libraries politics stays out of

On Earth we can see a build up of greenhouse gasses. So I can't see how any of the science involved can just be ignored by any political party. It is way past time to stop burning oil and use light as a power source. We really should start but politically oil people will lose money and donate to a party that says worrying about the earth is BS. So then we have people thinking the whole thing is BS when it is really greed that prevents the facts.

Here is where I speculate. I even believe 500 years from humans won't have to eat dead animals and plants for energy but use light in some way.

The distortions from the right and the left on climate crisis are what is causing misinformation. And I know we all know we need new energy sources. What we are doing now adds to greenhouse gasses. And at some point will be measurable even in rural areas unlike now where it is said to already happen.
