2024 US Presidential Election

here is the republican presumptive nominee for president....
wait. no. never mind.

it's a total unhinged rant about sharks....
He's also brought up Hannibal Lecter at least three times in recent speeches. For no apparent reason. Just likes to mention him as a "nice guy" who sometimes "had friends for dinner." Apropos of absolutely nothing.

This is starting to become a pattern now. Seems like at every public event he participates in, there is video of him being led around as if he doesn't know what he's doing.....
The only thing that video shows me is that old men move slowly. I saw Obama saying "That oughta do it. Let's go" and patting him on the back as they walked off.

Yes, Biden's old. Too old. I get that.

BUT keep in mind that an administration is never one person. It never has been. And I trust that he will continue to have competent, intelligent, energetic, and yes, younger people throughout his staff.

Trump, on the other hand, will have nothing but sycophants who'll never question whatever crazy shit he spews out.

I do think they are both doddery. But I trust a Joe cabinet over a Don cabinet plain and simple. From the environment to a whole lot of other issues.
But wow would it be good if both stepped aside. I mean who could even step in on either side?

I am seeing doddery, neither Joe nor Don do I believe have dementia. I have seen it a few times. And it is much worse than the way either acts.

Xactly! You must have posted that as I was typing. That is also what I see. I can't help when people want to make it a blood sport. Again what gets me is we pay taxes for these two political groups to get together to solve things. And people are ok with the fight, when really we should be mad at them for not solving. The immigration issue is a good example. What fuckery the right did, drafted up something and then killed it. Then blame the left.

Merrick Garland has to go though. Would you believe it if I said I dislike the guy more than other people? He is the prototype for the term snowflake. Should have been a kindergarden teacher.

Eh, that is my worthless two cents.

I pretty much agree, but again, if the shit hits the fan there are some decisions that must be made by the president. I don't like the idea of him making those decisions, but I also don't like him outsourcing them to random people in his administration either. We need a competent leader who can make impossibly complex decisions at a moments notice.

depends on how advanced it is. its just like that when it starts. They seem fine sometimes then randomly space out and you have to remind them what they are doing. Eventually the reminding and nudging and leading doesn't help, they just stay confused until they snap out of it.

It's pretty funny that out of all things to lie about she chose to lie about something that a lot of people clearly saw happen

Very true, but I do think people mix up dementia with senility. In this instance. only time will tell.

the clip is 40 seconds long. did you watch it?

"White House Press Secretary openly lies and says recent videos of President Biden looking lost and confused are deepfakes and manipulated."

she doesn't say that.

do you know which videos she is referring to, if not those? I'm genuinely curious. I watched the 40 seconds and I honestly can't tell. I think why most assume she is referring to those is because they're the ones that have been the subject of discussion in recent days.

I'm not necessarily referencing that video, but it's quite insane how easy it is to manipulate how people perceive original news media.

Just take something out of context, or add your own opinion to the video in the title, and suddenly you've created an entirely new distorted opinion.... then that clip will get 40 million views, when the original video it referenced maybe got 50k views. Then 20 other content creators remix that remixed video.

Suddenly 200 million people watched an out of context video clip and have no idea what was actually said. See the problem with that? People absorb distorted second hand opinions and not actual facts. Truth is so hard to find these days.

i don't. but... that he looked "lost and confused" is entirely a matter of opinion and, if you see the whole thing, not edited or cropped, it's a different picture.

i was going to swrite more but, basically, what snafu said...

I get that, if it were one isolated video. But there are what 5+ now where he is being led around or looking confused? Are they all deepfakes, manipulated etc ?

I watched a longer version of him and Obama. My opinion of his confusion level didn't change.

I just take a look at how much everything costs now and then how much stuff cost under Trump. So, I think you already know who I'm voting for.

This is the video that caused all of the interest, then she mentions other videos that don't have anything to do with the one everyone is talking about which is this one. It obviously happened. There are tons of videos of him acting lost but people will still deny it

you do realize that inflation and cost of goods are two really complex topics that are not really under the control of a president, and that trump has 0 elucidated plan for "makin stuff cost less" -- There's ample evidence that a lot of what we are experiencing stems mainly from corporate greed/price gouging rather than the inflation itself.

Only one party works at all with corporate accountability, and it sure as fuck aint the repubs. Other than that - if we had had Don or any other R our recovery from the pandemic would have been terrible, and we'd likely still be suffering from much higher rates as well.
