2024 US Presidential Election

Trump is complaining they spent a lot of money campaigning against Joe. He wants him back as to not waste money. Or he wants to be reimbursed. He says it is not fair. What the Dems did was a play, much like when a football team runs out the clock on some plays to win. It is a legit strategy. But I can't stop laughing when I heard trump complaining they wasted money and now he should be paid back.

Yeah I mean I'd be pissed too.
Can't believe the democrats actually made a competent political decision for once.
Putting Biden to bed and choosing Walz was about the best that could've been hoped for, realistically

But still a few months to fuck it up by not focusing on the right issues

"Do you know why people hate liberals? If they're so fucking educated, why do they always lose?"

That's my whole political career. I agree with liberals on a lot of levels... but why do they always fucking lose? It's a legitimate question.

They focus too much on identity politics
Just like...say hopey changey stuff
Talk about improving healthcare and inflation
Not that hard
You're literally running against an idiot.

Because the human brain (along with every other animal on Earth) evolved to have an uneven sensitivity to negative versus positive stimuli - because it is more important for survival to be aware of potential dangers that might end your life than it is to be equally distracted by something nice, even if you find some conveniently sized food source or seemingly safe shelter, you must remain alert to predators or other unfriendly humans. The same is not true in reverse, in the presence of an immediate threat to life, no source of comfort or nourishment can distract you.

This negativity bias poses a big problem civilizationally because ultimately conservative "values" are nothing more than a thin layer of linguistic rationalisation that naturally grew over the instinctual, animalistic default to see potential enemies everywhere, seek comfort in the familiarity of the status quo and take risks only when absolutely necessary to protect the individual. It is, therefore, of course, extremely easy for those who've surrendered to the delusion that conservatism is somehow a reasoned moral philosophy rather than just the animalistic default perspective to push those same deeply ingrained buttons in others and stoke fear, to avoid risk, and avoid change.

Liberals face an uphill battle against this evolutionary disadvantage because liberal ideas are typically oriented around minimising discomfort, ultimately, for more people, and it's difficult to convince humans that maybe, we have collectively managed to make the world a lot less dangerous and perhaps now can turn our attention to the slightly less exciting process of fine-tuning civilization further, focusing on longer term dangers like the future state of the environment on Earth, and the many more nebulous challenges that we will surely still need to face if we are to survive as a species in the long term - and create a global human civilization even worthy of survival - and ultimately, "loftier" ideals...

When the alternative is the intuitively far simpler to understand but still, far dumber - like, ancient-ancestor-of-a-chimpanzee dumb - option of just hunkering down and protecting some arbitrary medieval way of doing things that must be best because, surely, it's just how it's always been! Or because God said it was so! And besides, we can't think about all that other shit yet!

Immigrants/gays/trans/Muslims/Jews/The Leftist Liberal Elite/ are coming to attack us, they want to take what's ours and destroy us, LOOK! DANGER! Panic and retreat... to protect the unavoidable stupidity of how it's always been since the first brains evolved in some kind of deep sea slug or whatever.

In a nutshell, IMHO.

From The Atlantic:

The novelist Gary Shteyngart recently asked Donald Trump’s supporters on X to “check out RFK Jr.,” noting that the idiosyncratic candidate has “many interesting things to say about lots of stuff.” We asked Shteyngart if he himself would vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This was his response.

I’m a lifelong registered Republican who has voted for Donald J. Trump in the past five presidential elections. But lately I have been looking at Robert F. KENNEDY Jr. with fresh eyes, and I urge my fellow Republicans to look at him as well.

I voted for President Trump because I am a business owner just like him. Also, I liked that he was building a Wall to protect us against immigrants from Mexico. In my own life I have seen what unchecked immigration can do to our Country. I suffer from Anal Fissures up by my Rectum and the doctor in my town clinic is called Hussein (like Barack Hussein Obama), and he has not been able to fix my problems like an American doctor would. If this “Dr.” Hussein had been stopped in Mexico, I would not have Anal Fissures.

Although President Trump has been mostly good for our Country, I think he dropped the ball when he started Operation Warped Speed, which gave many people the autism and worse. I have been listening to Robert F. KENNEDY’S book The Real Anthony Fauci on audiotape, and he makes many compelling points. First of all, his name is KENNEDY, just like John F. KENNEDY and Robert F. KENNEDY. Second of all, he is against Operation Warped Speed and the COVID vaccines, which Dr. Hussein has been trying to get me to take for years. Third of all, my granddaughter won’t speak to me because I voted for Trump (she moved up to St. Paul and thinks she knows everything), and if I vote for KENNEDY maybe we will have a relationship again. Fourth of all, I live in a town where a davenport is just for sitting, which is to say President Trump did not choose a good running mate. Fifth of all, although President Trump’s wife is pretty, I do not understand a word she says, just like I don’t understand Dr. Hussein. KENNEDY, however, married an actress who looks like a younger version of my cousin Suzie. Sixth of all, even though I don’t think that KENNEDY is as prayerful as President Trump, he has the support of Joe Rogan, and Joe Rogan always “calls them as he sees them.”

In conclusion, I know there is someone out there who can solve all this. Finish the Wall and stop the immigrants from coming, fix the pain up by my Rectum, and make my granddaughter love me again. But it can’t just be some bozo off the street. Sometimes it takes a KENNEDY

Just thought this might be relevant.

"The" autism is where it lost me
He's using satire to reflect on what the rationale some people use to explain their support for guys like trump and RFK Jr.

We should all take a refresher on critical thinking and reading comprehension.

He's using humor to show just how insane these people are.

Edited to add: By 'these people' I mean DJT and RFKjr. It isn't a global *these* people pointing at others who might be supportive of the candidates in question. I don't want to be mistaken for taking pot shots at others on here. I love y'all 🌵💜

(edit) Men have run the world for several thousand years. Let's give the ladies a shot.
They can't do any worse.

My theory is this. Women are in the process of breaking that glass ceiling in Congress, so the crop of women in Congress now had to be the best to get there. Neither men nor women are better, but the crop of women in Congress right now might be better than the crop of men due to this.

Before you mention MTG and Bimbert, they are highly qualified in what the requirements were to be a Republican Congressperson at that point in history.

Well, I guess what I have to say is if it’s true that he doesn’t respect veterans and others and especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice then he’s despicable…

If it’s true that he said those things…

hey man, i feel like i haven't seen you here for a little while. hope all is well.

i thought about you when i saw the coverage of trump's comments about the presidential medal of freedom and the medal of honor yesterday. this is not second-hand or terribly biased msm reporting - hear what he said for yourself:
