2024 US Presidential Election

But, this has been a middlin' cycle up to lately. How could the recent solar storms affect the long term climate measurements we are discussing? I'm a Ham, although not active lately, I've followed the solar cycles.

I was into short wave listening (SWL) before I became a Ham. Just saw my old radio in the basement the other day. I remember when I was a teenager, I sent for a QSL card (proof of reception, people collect them) from Radio Moscow. My father was not pleased when I received mail from Moscow. Radio Moscow was just the first thing people got since they beamed their signal strongly into the US.

The high solar cycles are what makes long distance communication possible since the signals will "skip" off the charged ionosphere and bounce around the earth instead of travelling straight off into space.

I think there are people out there that can handle the work load. What we have is nih and fauci doing gain of function. Let the free market dictate what gets funded.

I mean I would. Would you take a seat in congress to vote on spending bills based on scientific proposals. I sure as hell wouldn’t if the votes were to be on funding more war. Which is all we get now. @someguyontheinternet
 
getting rid of the nsf has nothing to do with not funding more war. we can fund less war and still give the money to the nsf

but i dont trust congress to decide on what research to fund, we need domain experts for that not political clowns otherwise we just end up with people lobbying for funding nonsense, meaning more wealth extraction that is already happening. you cant lobby the nsf to get funded
 
For instance. You can cut out all cancer research by implementing pot (kills cancer cells) generate a profit from sales and now that’s self sustaining.
 
however i also dont trust the general public to decide who is the best domain expert, there should be restrictions on who can run in that case
 
Shrink government. You don’t need the alphabet agencies where you have senate, congress, scotus, and president and his cabinet. Three main branches of gov. It got out of control.
