2024 US Presidential Election

"Kamala's DOJ is suing Virginia because Glenn Youngkin removed people from the rolls who are legally barred from voting in American elections."

i suppose if you blindly accept what glen youngkin and the state of virginia is saying, then you're likely to believe this and then just repeat it without challenging it.

irony not lost on me.

if you read what they're actually doing, it's quite possible the process disenfranchises valid, voting-eligible u.s. citizens.

but, not only that, the "quiet period provision" of the nvra requires "...states to complete systematic programs aimed at removing the names of ineligible voters from voter registration lists no later than 90 days before federal elections."

the federal election is in 24 days. the state of virginia is breaking the law in doing what it's doing.

i guess the 'party of law and order' only gives a shit about law and order when it's not them breaking it?

alasdair

Ohio "Removed non-eligible voters from the polls", just exactly barely within the legal time frame, At the early voting polls there are numerous people coming out pissed as hell because they have been removed. The greater percentage seem to be African-American. LaRose also wants to remove people (and may have) who haven't voted in 4 years and require proof of citizenship to vote. (birth certificate, passport)

The removed around 1,000 people from the rolls due to lack of citizenship. A little over 100 had tried to vote. (8 million registered voters) You can be signed up by mistake by checking the wrong box when you get your drivers license. Not sure if it's a crime to end up on the rolls but not try to vote. They can apparently catch the ones who try to vote with their drivers license. (picture ID already required) They also use those DMV records to easily find the non-citizens on the rolls.

So, apparently they can find if you are a citizen rather easily if you show drivers license or prove your identity with the required picture ID.

No, you don't normally need a birth certificate for lower level jobs like retail.

Ohio, man.

Ali, as someone who's followed this from an international perspective for 30 years, it is an accepted fact that the GOP has to rely on voter purges to supress turnout in order to win general elections. The GOP cannot break the law, they are and always have been above law that are only supposed to apply to others. No one is going to read the reporting when it destroys the point they insist on making, regardless of anything.

Suspicious :Sherlock:

Trying to sow seeds of doubt in preparation for another coup attempt are we?

There is no conspiracy any sane person would believe requiring the secrecy of thousands and which has no provable evidence while requiring hundreds of convoluted machinations. Three people can keep a secret... if two of them are dead.

Meanwhile. people come out of the polls every day angry at having been purged. They don't get to vote this time. The real crimes. The real voter fraud.
