^Not quite sure what you're referring to, but philosophy majors are a common curricular backbone to pre-law, which is a common profession among politicians (including Rubio). So I don't see where he's going with that either.
 
this starbucks issue is making the republicans look like idiots, i think. they're really struggling for issues if starbucks changing a festive snowflake cup to a festive red, white and green cup is indicative of some liberal assault on christianity. since when was a snowflake a christian symbol anyway?

this mock outrage is just a distraction from real issues.

It's just the "war on christmas" shtick that comes around but once a year.

Chik-a-fillet can discriminate against customers, but don't you DARE put out a red cup without a snowman on it or there will be hell to pay.

Exactly. The republicans are all about distraction and pandering to the laughably ignorant vote.
Which is really fucking disturbing when they pull this mickey mouse shit, campaigning to be elected Commander in Chief of such an obscenely large miliary machine.

Just an example. Perhaps I should have used the bakeries that refuse to serve gay couples as an example. Point being, this cup thing is utter nonsense, especially compared to real world problems that continue to exist.

Idk, I can see how some mom and pop business with Christian owners wouldn't want to make a wedding cake that says Bob and Dan on it, but that's been debated a long time ago. But yeah, the cup thing is stupid. Starbucks should be able to have the Star of David and the words "Happy Hanukkah" on it if they want to.

I had some video of Trump talking about this issue show up in my facebook feed. I could not believe the cheers and the applause he was getting. It doesn't even make any sense, since no presidential candidate is proposing that we restrict the freedom of businesses to brand their products as they wish it isn't even an "issue" which they can tangibly address.

The willingness of the voting public to lap up empty tough talk from politicians over total non-issues never ceases to amaze me.
 
I'm looking at the cup now and it is fine. So we can refuse to bake a cake for a couple gays, but the inclusion of Christmas themes are must on cups/ utensils? I will say as the extreme political correctness social justice warrior movements reach out from academia into corporate America there is certainly a press to be as inclusionary and homogeneous as possible. If that Is the free markets prerogative I say so be it.

I liked rands performance in the last debate. I'd really like to vote for him but I am now a registered democrat and soon will be feeling the bern..

I assume you're talking about the christian-right wing PC social justice warriors here, as it's the typical "war on christmas" crowd who is upset here. The rest of us don't give two squats about a starbucks cup.

I say we add all the colors to the cups, as to not offend the PC christians.

Rand's still in? I haven't even really bothered to keep up with this game show bullshit but I would definitely vote for him if he makes it. Still doubt he really stands a chance of winning tho. Either way, you seriously registered as Democrat or are you just being funny?

Ya rand isn't gonna win the nomination bc he is for things like sound money and a sensible foreign policy which nobody cares about. I really did register as a democrat and I will vote in the election for the republicans granted it isn't jeb bush. If people had sense they would follow suit and vote for Bernie as he doesn't stand a chance in the general.
 
The Republican candidates are all so batshit insane I don't think it matters who gets the nomination, although Trump would be the most dangerous. The party comes across as entirely unelectable, it seems to have become the home for extremists rather than traditional conservatives and that's one of the inherrent problems with a two-party system. Vote Sanders, give socialism a go :) you might just enjoy the free healthcare and redistribution of wealth.
 
Yeah I used to be republican, but they have gotten way to far right for me. I am all for smaller government and states rights, but I don't like the whole christian puritanical ethos they are trying to push on me.

Honestly I think that instead of a president we should just get 100 republicans and 100 democrats, give them a task to accomplish (working by themselves in their party) and just flip a coin and see if its heads republicans pass legislation, tails democrats pass legislation. Things might actually get done, and we wouldn't have to worry about the illusion of having a say in government anymore. Considering that both parties are turning this country into a nation of uneducated debtors in which the vast majority of voters (which is such a low turnout anyways) can't help but vote against their best interest because they look at saying the other party's name as being some kind of slur.

Ugh....intellectual, and social progress takes a nosedive once again.
 
Or better yet we find a way to do away with all the politicians and start from the ground up with people that actually want to help the country. =D
