2016 American Presidential Campaign

Bernie has no chance. He's a self-described socialist. As the saying goes, “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

Millionaires live rather well. The American public sees itself as future millionaires, and thus doesn't really concern itself with the fact that socialism has lead to a high standard of living in the Scandinavian countries. Instead, socialism is seen as a way to prevent them from becoming millionaires.

I dunno, socialism seems to be much less of a dirty word than it was in 2008, even. Besides, taken on an issue by issue basis, I'd imagine most people support the social democratic ideas that Sanders espouses, even if they detest the "socialist" label or brand.

Most intelligent people should but unfortunately I think the socialist tag + the Clinton machine is too much to overcome. It's nice to see the Liberal media really play up the "Trump card". ;)
There will be a major shift in the polls once the debates get underway.

Most people like Obamacare, if you explain the details of it and don't call it Obamacare.

That doesn't mean Obamacare is popular.

In Republican candidate polls, Trump is only second to Bush?

Really, can't the GOP do better?

It'd be quite entertaining and funny to see the donald in the first debate. At this point it may look like it. Just imagine if he was president! Ahahaha. China, you're fired!

Trump 2016

Jeb Bush committed his first major gaffe of his campaign with the headline "Americans need to work more hours to improve the ecpnomy". Ouch not a wise choice of words there. Especially coming out of the mouth of someone with the last name Bush. The man didn't exactly grow up in poverty.

Donald Trump doubled down on the Mexican hate in the last few days. We will see how it works out for him. The last pole I saw still has him in second place among republicans. Which makes me quite afraid for the future of this country.

^ agreed. making a buck is the most important - indeed the only - criterion which should apply when making societal decisions.

People are really taking the trump thing seriously again? The man runs for president whenever there's no incumbent to run against and always ducks out before the debates begin. Using the title of "presidential candidate" as a giant billboard is just what he does.

The trolls, lets stop feeding them?

It's a sad statement to make on a country and its election when the only thing peopel talk about is which of the most likely candidates is the least repugnant. It's the case in Europe too.

Bardo I would say the same thing about a number of the liberal candidates.

Like who?

I can't even think of another conservative candidate who abuses the spotlight in the same way as Trump year after year. It would be like Sean Penn running in every election to plug his new movie before deciding to dip out early.

I might be wrong here but it really seems to me that the only hope the GOP has is Rand. I really don't think that any of the typical republicans have much of a chance against Hillary. Rand seems to be the most popular with independents esp. in states like CO which is actually a pretty conservative state considering how progressive it is. It seems to me that for the GOP to win they need independents. Republicans might show up for the midterms but democrats seem to dominate the Presidential elections.

Keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath.

I would say AL franken well embodies trumps deal only Al actually wanted in politics and ran for an attainable position. Dude is a far left looney tune who should of stuck with his shitty comedy. Hilary Clinton is essentially Jeb Bushes counterpart only she is running heavy on the novelty of being the first woman president where Jeb wants to be the first white-latino president. The lady is politics as usual and what self respecting woman would stay with a man that cheated on her in the public eye constantly if not only to further her own evil political agenda. I am literally the only truly in the middle poster on here though maybe norf is only slightly more conservative than I am.

Well Ali he will probably look at making America more prosperous overall not giving a fuck about other people/nations. Im sure his foreign policy would be atrocious but I would see him fairing better than any president since clinton in the fiscal dept. Though I question his decision making when it comes to crucial social programs ttytt.

I'm not convinced Trump is that great of a businessman but I'm sure that's what he's hoping everyone thinks.

This man has run multiple companies into bankruptcy. And you think he'd be good for the federal budget?

About the only thing his presidency has been good for is making old issues of Bloom County relevant again.

The point being Obama never really accomplished anything other than law school, being half black, and being a community organizer which is just a trumped up title for being the head boss of a liberal pro Union organization; excuse the pun. Even trump himself will tell you in business you win some and you lose some the key to success is to keep trying and come out on top in the end. Trump is very open about evading taxes and having failed businesses. The truth is all the very rich do the exact same thing only they are not in the public spotlight.

Trump jumped to #1 in the polls.

Trump 2016
"Somebody's doing the raping!"

The media can't stop talking about him. This is hilarious ahaha. John Stewart's bits on him are funny af.

and the mona list is 'just a painting of a woman'.

he graduated columbia and harvard law school and taught at university of chicago law school. he also was elected state senator and u.s. senator which you conveniently omitted to mention.

When Clinton's interview was broadcasted the other night she continued to deflect questions regarding her private email server. She lied once again multiple times on various issues. When pressed about her foundation and foreign contributions she deflected. 6 out of 10 polled americans don't trust her and when she was asked if she would personally vote for someone she didn't trust she doesn't answer and just goes on to say she fully trusts the american voters will make the right decision. Yada yada. My gosh no one will ever know what countries, organizations, people, etc., she owes political favors to and no one will ever know the truth about laws she may have broken. Worst secretary of state in modern times; what makes anyone think she'd be a good president. No worries, she'll get voted for just because she's a women and some people just want to see a women president no matter how corrupt she may be.
