The cartoon came out probaby about a decade after the movie. I can't really think of a hint that won't give the answer away.OK. One more hint for ya. The hero WAS named Melvin.

2. is it a comedy? yes, it is described as action comedy fantasy horror in IMDB. less notably, it is described as funny as fuck in darthmoms database.
