i really enjoyed oral hydromorphone (i know, oral availabilty... gotta just take enough) over even insufflated heroin. then again, i liked suboxone better than heroin. hydromorphone is prolly my favorite opioid, if we are talking single compounds... but i like opium a whooooooooole lot.

In my experience, it's precisely the variety of compounds in opium that make the withdrawal harder. That's only if you've built up a bona fide physical dependency though.
