Raw opium does not burn like hash, by itself, it's difficult to properly vaporize it. It can be done (mix powdered raw opium with tobacco or cannabis) and it works, but eating is much better.

To properly vapourise opium you need an opium pipe, which is sealed at one end to trap the vapours for efficient inhalation. You can get VERY high like that. Trying to smoke off foil like it is heroin wastes it. Better to eat it.

It's stronger eaten imo so you need less, but also smoking (vapourising actually) opium is a difficult process and most people waste post of their opium using it in that way @TheUltimateFixx can explain more clearly probably

I've never heard that high thebaine cause the opium Latex to change colour. Normally it's what's in the soil that I've heard effects colour. Also yellow, white and even pink are possibly colours of opium latex when it's bleeding before it oxidises and goes browny black.
