ODD BUT TRUE - Paracetamol (acetaminophen) can demonstrate far lower rectal biovailability than oral bioavailability BUT I note a note suggesting that the figure is highly dependent on the formulation of the pill.
Even if you only occassionally consume a compound medication containing paracetamol, it's worth the money to buy and consume methionine (sold in health food shops) as it's the body running out of methionine that makes paracetamol hepatotoxic.
In the UK we had paracetamol/methionine compound tablets with 500/250 i.e. it seems half the mass of methionine is sufficient to prevent the mis-metabolism that yields the toxin.
The liver is amazing but it's so cheap that I would consider taking a methionine just in case your diet means you don't have a large store of that amino acid. Every month or so someone in the UK will wind up dead from taking too much paracetamol. I don't mean ten times the maximum (4g/24 hours) but just twice that dose. A TI of ONE seems very narrow to me.
