Hello everyone, I sincerely hope everyone is doing well. I felt inspired to start this thread out of my own selfish desire to have a place for my thoughts and perhaps a place to discuss them and possibly disseminate them if they're any good.

I like to think, perhaps too much at times, and so I must externalize them and cast them out for you all to ping off of... I tend to be a "deep thinker" whilst also taking life either far too seriously or the total opposite... IE I feel like either a wise man or the jester poking at him a lot of the time.

So, some, light questions I have on my mind (jk...or am I?)

Are we both the observed and the observer? As in are we all God and not simultaneously?
Now something maybe a bit more relatable...does anyone else find comfort in rain and thunder? Back to da deep. Do you think we can change our nature or is it inherent within us? Do you think it is folly that man trys to tame nature? Is our whole existence a quest for understanding that will perpetually be just out of reach?

Some musings to get us going at 4:03am Frenchie time... I will be back to mindfuck, ahem, I mean gain a greater understanding at another time. Now to focus on the important stuff, like messaging exes at ungodly hours to let em know you still care...

One exe knows I care a bunch and am still a lunatic (depending on who's asking)... Unfortunately I woke her, selfishly. I'm thinking about instituting a policy of contacting anyone, anytime I miss them, or care about them when they are in my thoughts...Radical loving...misplaced or not, I just have so much love in my heart (I'm working on extending that to myself, that's very tough tbh)...Oh and I disturbed one of my best friends too with some crazy rant telling him how much I love him as a friend... I've written a note to self to tell him the same when I'm sober. I hope my new policy doesn't alienate them, or I come across as crazy. To quote Kanye West "Telling the truth is crazy in a world full of lies." I just have to spread my truths as i know them. C'est la vie.

💜💜💜 Yes, as in Who, are you ? Wink wink.

Research done on more and more candidate genes being found are consistent with personality presentations. You can utse also.

So really we could be speaking about a polygenic risk. Being about that everybody has a certain level of risk for

anything in their genes. ( not the skinny brand kind ) And for what would make a potential risk factor for somebody developing

differences in the DNA . And if there's enough of those differences, say that on average there's 500. If somebody has like 2,000

of those differences there are risk factors that influence.

Those little tiny things have a strong additive effect. So not just looking at one or two really powerful genes that have the whole profile in them.

There's probably thousands and thousands of little ones that cumulatively can create this additive effect. ( Search engine sources )

So we can see strong influences from the genetic side. Along with behavior that can be and is in fact learned behavior of course.

However, though, sometimes genetics can and will dominate then.

~~~
I will be back too. I hope. Knock on wood. I have to stop hitting myself on the head though.
Good deep thought Thread for sure !!
Do you thunk those most suited to have power (over others, over self etc) are those who don't want it?
Wow, an excellent contribution. I often ponder nature vs. nurture. I myself have definitely struggled with addiction and from my peon brain's understanding, it's genetically encoded within me, for better or for worse. I wonder if we have any control over our nature ultimately.
Now for something for ya'll too chew on...
Is the "self" a verb pretending to be a noun?
We've been a part of this planet for a hilariously tiny amount of time compared to the earths lifespan and we are trying to modify the planet, just truly fucking crazy. For the same reason, looking externally for purpose doesn't really make sense either. A visual way that i think about it is like this, the sun is always shining right, and our blood is always pumping, our lungs are breathing even when we are asleep... things are in motion, together and in unison - i don't think there is a "higher purpose" beyond that, really - i think the purpose is quite simple and boring, which is we are all a part of a much bigger whole.
Does anyone wonder, metaphorically (or perhaps literally when we become part of the cosmos once again), when to be like water and when to be a stone. As in when to fight one's nature, impulses etc and when to quote one of the great philosopher's of our time "Bruce Lee" and to instead be like water and go with the flow? (If it's even possible to resist said current).
Which leads me to my next question...
When does confidence stray into arrogance? Is it arrogant to think we have free will?
Thank you guys for all your thoughts and for acting as a sounding board. I have so many thoughts all the time and it helps to share my "madness" with you all :) Sometimes I feel totally alone, but I know that can't be true. We're all part of this magnificent/awe-inspiring universe. I see signs all the time and yet it is my nature to doubt... and therein lies my conundrum. I am not afraid of much except parts of my own nature that I know to exist...
Balancing self doubt and confidence is extremely difficult for me.
It's hard to know what to put my energy in to, what "fights aren't worth fighting", ect. Still trying to figure that out.
I'm tustling with that constantly. I want to be a "good" man and ethical... I think that pretty much comes down to what my intuition says is the right move.I do feel that there is something bigger than me protecting me or at least keeping me around until I fulfil my "purpose." I have certainly pushed my luck and to be cliche, I've used up a lot of my cat lives. Just the other day, I fell asleep face up, with nicotine gum in m mouth and I wss like... how did I not choke to death in my sleep? Which then lead to bigger questions...like why am I so blessed when others that I feel a re more worthy have thier lives snatched away. It's beyond my understanding.
A big problem is decision paralysis for me. I can think to the point where I can be frozen like I got hit by Medusa and time just keeps passing me by. Intent ain't shit without action and I am so afraid of hurting others and myself (only in the sense that I haven't done "enough" with my life... I think I'm mostly at peace with my inevitable demise...like...if I have a good impact and leave more than I have taken, then I hope to die with a smile on my a face...preferably a knowing one).
Do you ever find yourself making deals with the sky?
Do you guys think external validation or internal validation is more important? My gut says the latter. Part of me, the egotistical part of me wants the former. I'm kind of struggling with that in the sense that we are all bound by natural law, but the law of man is often imperfect and at times straight up unethical.
I'll pose a more down to earth example. I acknowledge money as a necessary evil in society writ large, but it is only a means to an end for me... Freedom from worry about health bills, the freedom to travel etc. I personally think accruing wealth for wealths sake and for the "power" it brings is folly, in my broke ass opinion. I grew up with a silver spoon and I think that distances you from people in a way...it makes you have the illusion that you are better than others..simply because you have more 0s in your bank account... in reality, I feel like if you have more money than sense you can lose part of your humanity. If you live for money, for money's sake, In my experience, you are lost.
Do you al think wisdom is found in the uncomfortable cognitive dissonance of opposing ideas? Like, if you drop your ego as much as is possible and try and think of the most positive thing you can think of and the mos negative thing you can think of at the same time... you gain a bit more understanding? I practice it, even though it can be very uncomfortable. But so is any real growth ime,..
Does anyone fear they will become what they hate? For example I dislike hypocrites..so when I spot incongruities between who I am and who i think I should be, it makes me hate on myself...which in turn is a hypocrisy as I preach that everyone should love themselves and forgive themselves.
Its easy to say an opinion, because every body has one!
But what you say is true and real,
Therefore we have terms to understand the next moment.
Inside each of us, and you is a secret understanding of nature and the laws of physics..
Before we see Christ, we first seek for ourselves the Stars of our destiny.
The way things are communicated to you because everything is sense data residing in consciousness.
Ayahuasca taught me that the Soul knows everything all the time... So to tune into your soul is of absolute importance.
People have differences of opinion because we all share a different perspective as Stars of creation..
Stars and Astrology, people are linked via symbols of Love and affection..
There is much more to do, because we live in an infinite singularity of time,
Being is first and most prominent thing.
Creation comes from thought,
And thought comes from curiosity, which is the wonder lust of the soul!
The Soul has a lesson for everybody, which can talk about anything in history to relate things is what a Human Brain is good at!
I think we are told that we need to be high achieving, and we have a certain idea of what that means because of what we are told. I believe a lot can be done by just being mindful.. because when you practice mindfulness, like you mentioned in another thread or PM i forget, doors sort of just open. And not necessarily doors of prosperity, at least not at first. I don't think it's totally about what we do but i do think a big part is how we do it. That said, i think having good intentions goes a long way, more than we can really measure.
Deals with the sky, i think prayer does have some power. But i think there is so much mysticism right in front of our faces, at all times, that getting in touch with my own inner self would probably be the better use of my time. But again prayer, intentions, i think they can shape our environment to an extent.
I think a lot of what we experience in say a near-death experience vs. what we are told in textbooks and media, will cause cognitive dissonance. It's incredibly hard to separate the two, and look at nature and laws of physics like @Brendan12 mentioned, with a new perspective. Because again, we have been humans on earth for such a tiny amount of time compared to for example, trees, who have been on earth 1,000 times longer, and are so advanced that they don't passively take in sunlight, they actively change their internal biochemistry to respond to it more efficiently.
Do you thunk those most suited to have power (over others, over self etc) are those who don't want it?
Like, I can tell from experience, many people who think they want to help people and guide them, don't even know themselves, that it might be partially the case but there might also be some kind of unlit area of their psyche, unbeknownst to them with far different ideals. Unfortunately
There is a concept I learned from A Course In Miracles..
Which says, you can teach to learn..
You can learn from teaching.
Just speaking by yourself words at a whim,
You can learn allot about your inner chemistry..
The miracle is allot to do with creativity..
But everyone has a creative side!
