Returning to MDMA after a long-term comedown (DP/DR, anxiety) – Will a single use trigger a relapse?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some insight or personal experiences regarding returning to MDMA after recovering from a severe, long-term comedown.

To give you some context: about a year and 5 months ago, I had a rough experience that triggered a massive psychological crash. I spent the last 17 months dealing with severe anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, and some depersonalization/derealization (DP/DR). It was a long, exhausting road, but I can finally say I have fully recovered and feel back to normal.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about rolling again, but to be completely honest, I’m terrified of ruining all the progress I've made. I want to know if anyone here has successfully returned to MDMA after a long-term comedown like this.

  • Did a single, responsible dose reactivate your old symptoms (the panic, DP/DR, or anxiety)?
  • Or did everything go smoothly and you noticed no long-term negative effects?
I’d really appreciate hearing any honest experiences whether it went well or badly. I just want to gauge the risks before making a decision I might regret.

Thanks in advance!

Nobody can really answer your question mate

If I was in your shoes however and had experienced what you did, nothing could persuade me to try it again.

MDMA is very fast tolerance building which is a good thing in a way because of the neurotoxicity so if it did the relapse wouldnt be for long and if continued use would be placebo effect (which can still be powerful in its self) although i know it could cause a relapse to go onto other substances used and continued long term. I guess comes down to the individual and if opening that door will cause that transered use of substances to happen.
this is why being able to have open honest conversations as people who use/have used drugs keeps us safe

Can you give a little of what happened for the psychological crash to occur? Might shed light on advice.

Also, for what purpose would you want to do MDMA again?
