So a friend of mine has been IV using for a few days and now he is having crazy blister like pimples popping up all over his face neck and arms and legs. When they pop they have a clear oil in them that smells just like fuel. What could cause this? Someone told me it might be lye poisoning? What should he do?

I think he definitely needs to get this checked out ASAP.

PS the unusual smell of the exudate would make me suspect a bacterial or fungal infection; it's easy to introduce either into the body through injection of contaminated drugs, or unhygienic injecting practices.

Well he only uses brand new equipment so that rules out part of it, today he feels a little better the sores are mellowed out since he stopped firing work. Just seems really odd the break out like that, the friend that told him its lye poisoning told him to take benadryl and take vitamins and drink lots of fluids and he is. Hopefully its not an infection like you said. But you know how meth gives you the worst chemically body odor smell, the little bit of oil that was coming out of those small blisters smelt just like some kind of fuel like Coleman or ether maybe.

What the heck does this person think lye poisoning is or does?!

Lemme tell you if he had THAT he'd be in the ER. He'd be having severe abdominal pain, be vomiting, wheezing, and very probably end up going into shock. Lye is SODIUM HYDROXIDE ffs. Also known as caustic soda. It is highly corrosive and destroys living tissue. And you don't treat that with sodding benadryl and a couple vitamins. Unless he's sipping on drain cleaner, how is he even supposed to have gotten that into his system.

I dont think thats exactly what he is meaning that he has ingested lye, he is referring to when you cook dope and you pull the batch too many times and the last pull being lightweight toxic people around my area refer to it as lye poisoning, cause lye is one of the chemicals used in cooking dope. But I agree with what your saying. Idk what he has got going on since he has quit shooting that dope he is clearing up tho. Who knows what it was maybe the dope was bad?

Yeah I had those with cathiones and they would have grayish goo come out.

Sounds like a nasty reaction to the unholy fusion of chemicals in meth, a possible combination with bodily stress from the amount and length of time on it.

Hope he stops for a quick recovery, and try other ways to take - although the rush isn't as intense as iv. I only take it orally, occasionally as a harm reduction strategy. My friend was on ice iv and had a terrible time with it.

He made a great recovery and is still sober from the iv meth.. he is doing awesome i think he is gonna quit and stay sober for a while thanks for the replies and help
