I recently complained about my sleeping problems (having difficulties to get sleep) to my GP. I told him I have tried 5 mg melatonin pills for this problem, but it didn't help. Now, he decided that he wants to put me on a long-acting melatonin pill of 2 mg! If the IR 5 mg melatonin didn't work, then how the hell is a long-acting 2 mg melatonin going to help?! Practically I should predict when I'm going to have sleeping difficulties with this, because it takes a long time to start acting - and even then the amount is low.
Is there an idea behind here that I don't understand or is the doctor just ignorant? I think this drug is actully meant for people who have difficulties staying asleep.
