I recently complained about my sleeping problems (having difficulties to get sleep) to my GP. I told him I have tried 5 mg melatonin pills for this problem, but it didn't help. Now, he decided that he wants to put me on a long-acting melatonin pill of 2 mg! If the IR 5 mg melatonin didn't work, then how the hell is a long-acting 2 mg melatonin going to help?! Practically I should predict when I'm going to have sleeping difficulties with this, because it takes a long time to start acting - and even then the amount is low.

Is there an idea behind here that I don't understand or is the doctor just ignorant? I think this drug is actully meant for people who have difficulties staying asleep.

Do you have similar experiences with doctors? Please, share!

I liked Librium..It gives a nice body buzz. Ask if you can get that but you have to go to a psychiatrist.

@Survival0200, curious can you buy melatonin online or a pharmacy? If so why don’t buy a bottle of 3 mg and adjust the dose to your needs?
I take 9mgs melatonin and my Dr is aware of this, why can’t you do the same?

Well, I kind of gave up with melatonin when even the 5 mg pills didn't work. I can buy it OTC, yes. Maybe I should try even a larger dose?

You ever tried 5htp? Puts me to sleep and gives me really deep refreshing dream sleep.
