Hi,

I have an important inquiry and ask that responses please be from knowledgeable and/or experienced sources. My pain management NP won't be available to me until late tomorrow, so I'm itching for an answer.

A while back, my Dr. prescribed me Suboxone as a trial to see if it would help with my chronic pain.
It was not a success. So, I've finally been approved for Percocet. I am a rare person who needs it for pain resulting from chronic orthopedic issues. Do I enjoy the euphoria? Yes, of course! My question is: Can I make a direct switch from the suboxone to the Percs, or do I first need to wean off from the Sub? I've started a very, very slow taper with medical assistance that will bring me off the Suboxone completely by November. I know I can go cold turkey from the Suboxone for 3 days before the Perc would I even be effective. My question is, but do I "have" to do it that way (3 day wait before Perc), even if the perc is not yet effective? Or can I just switch right from the Suboxone to the Percocet, which will eventually become effective once the Suboxone is out of my system. I would not look forward to a three day cold turkey because that will mean withdrawal symptoms during that timeframe. Very curious about this. Thank you!

the hard part of Suboxone withdrawals don't hit until around day 10-11 in my experience and you will be ok taking the Percocet right away its just not gonna hit you very well and your gonna need to take more which will raise your tolerance pretty fast...but if you can stick to taking them as prescribed you should be fine ....just my 2 cents from my own experience

Ok to go from subox to Perks but absolutely , positively, for the love of God not from perks to subox! (For 12-24 hour or untill WD has fully in effect ) Precipitated withdrawal is a living hell on earth ...

I know this post is old but in kind of losing my mind. I had a nasty opioid habit (2008-2018). Everything from perk 10's to fentanyl lollipops, Lortabs, trammies, T3's. Didn't matter, I ate it. And about 80% was prescribed legitimately due to broken back and crushed: herniated discs. Anyhow, my primary dusted my ass randomly on a Tuesday. Just nope, no refills, no taper, no methadone. I was on my own. So I joined this virtual thing on day four of withdrawals cuz I legit thought I was gonna die. Within 12hrs I had subs, comfort meds (Imodium AD prescription strength, clonadine patches so I didn't stroke out, even freaking Ativan for the anxiety and legs. You only get these comfort ones for two weeks but by then the subs were on board and I was good to go) So. Fast forward to February 2025. I tear my left rotator cuff at work in a blizzard. Workers chin covers everything and I refuse opiates. The claims last SOS approving ask my passive treatment so I'm depending if my right arm to basically do everything. Note I find it last Thursday that my right is wasaay worse than my left due to repetitive use, multiple structural issues that will require surgery. I've been in legit agony for a week. Eating 800 ibuprofen and Tylenol by the handful never realizing got bad they are for my liver. I see the orthopedic doc tomorrow for a cortisone shot and discuss my imminent future. I need to fill out password and stuff, then get it approved so he's going to put me on like 4 or 5 days of straight Percocet 10's, no acetaminophen. Maybe more but I'm not counting on it. Do I stop taking my subs altogether? And how long before I pop a peek? If I take them together it's pointless, there will be no analgesia and they'll cancel each other out. I don't care about the high euphoria shit, I want legit dead ass pain relief. I just don't wands overdose or get precipitated withdrawals. Any info is greatly appreciated. I'm all s spun up worrying about this shit man.

Sorry, major delay here. I went from perks to Suboxone and the Sub really saved me. I've been tapering off it, and am now down to under 1 mg, so almost done!
