The BDD Wellbutrin (Bupropion) Thread

Peeps with Wellbutrin experience - PLEASE HELP ME!

Well, one week down on 300mg/day...the first three days were awesome. I felt great, no depression and had lots of energy. Since then, I've had a plethora of negative side effects - most notably a nagging constant tingling pain in my brain - it's not a headache - I can actually distinguish a tingly pain deep inside my head. And it won't go away. It's really bothering me and I don't know what to do - do I stick with it and punch through, or decrease the dose to 150mg/day, or just jump off completely?

I know if I ask my Doc he's just gonna either tell me to punch through or try something else like Pristiq....I'd rather not confuse my neurons with several different SSRI/SNRIs all at once.

This sucks...

I don't recommend jumping off 150mg a day cold turkey.

What do you mean by "punch through"?

I'm going to edit the title of this thread since we've got other Wellbutrin questions in here as well (which is good :)).

Just be adamant and tell him you don't believe in SNRI/SSRI therapy.

You've tried wellbutrin, it worked for 3 days and then you started exhibiting harmful side effects. More than enough reason to warrant coming off of it.

There's no reason you should have to take a medicine you don't want to.

Have you looked into mirtazapine? Seems to me safer than the SRI's. Don't be afraid to let your doctor know you're a well-informed person. If he sees a problem with this, time to find a new doctor.

I'm on 300mg/day currently.

By "punch through" I mean just take the 300mg/day regardless of side effects, and hope that they go away eventually....

I wouldn't recommend doing this unless your doctor thinks there are no other options. As thouart_that mentioned, there are other options for treating depression. Make sure your doctor knows you want to keep your options open :)

Mirtazapine is working great for me. I've been off of opiates for the longest period since I started taking them. It's given me my life back. Once the sedation goes away, it feels much much smoother than SSRI's. My libido has actually gone up.
