ah shit no nods for me today. I have to give myself a little break I've been bankaiing way too much this past week. It's so tempting too because I still have so much left.

Unfortunately I came to the puzzler late :( But I thought I could try something, show the equation for others to follow.


First hows here's how it looks in words:


total weight = given fraction of weight + 1/3 total weight

given fraction of weight = 12.
use this to solve for total weight.

total weight = 12 + 1/3 total weight

2/3 total weight = 12

total weight = 18

Then how I know BA likes it (no, not in the butt, but as an algebraic problem or a proof):


Let x = total weight of the fish
Let z = given fraction of fish weight [ = 12 ]

Now the fish (x) weighs [aka is equal to] the given fraction of the fish (z) weight plus one third the total weight (1/3x). So as an equation we would write:

x = z + 1/3x
2/3x = z
2/3x = 12
therefore
x = 18
