We're ok out here in southern california too, 70 degrees and sunny all week :D Supposed to be up 80 by this weekend.
TBH though I wouldn't mind some of that actual winter weather. Warm winters are nice until you realize that they are just warnings for the triple degree heat that we're about to face in a few monthsI loathe the heat. Don't know how I've lasted out here so long. Makes me miss Portland so

Damn I'm in so-cal and it was 17 degrees F this morning at about 7 AM PST..

which part? I'm in Pasadena, it was freezing this morning when I got up (38 degrees) but the forecast says it should be 70 today and by next Tuesday it should be in the high 70's.

I dunno man, some towns got pretty fucking smashed!! I think it's just lucky that more highly populated areas e.g. Cairns and Townsville weren't hit as hard, otherwise it could've been a lot worse.
PLUS that region has cyclones all the time, so they're pretty prepared. Most of the big buildings and some newer houses are built to be cyclone-proof
But of course the media did their usual fear-mongering bullshit tactics anyway, I agree with you there!!

That cyclone seemed abit talked up imo. I was visioning houses completely ripped apart and plenty of them. After all the media talked about yasi being bigger then larry, it was no surprise when they interveiwed the folks in the area and said larry was bigger. Typicall media hyping storys and event's up

So umm if I can be really ignorant for a sec....those abandoned cars...do the people stay inside them throughout the snowstorm? If not, when and why would they choose to abandon their cars in the middle of the road....because of ice?? Visibility issues?
