Can someone explain to me what Palinopsia is in their own definition?

I keep seeing a photo of myself in my vision for about three years, the original colors of the image are inverted in my vision when I see it. This picture seems difficult or even impossible to ignore at times. But I don't see the full picture, it's hard to explain how I see it, it's kind of like a outline of it.

"Seeing something after the original 'something' has vanished."

Those are my (tired brain's) words.

There was a thread (in this forum, I think) not too long ago about images being seen long after the original has gone. Tried searching for it and came up blank. Maybe someone else remembers and can help--The thread was from, at most, six months ago.

How long normally do you see something after it's original has gone? I've been seeing my picture for like 3 years... It's embedded in my vision or something and won't leave...

Piff xd Its looking like Bluelight strikes out every time you present this topic. I think it is probably a good idea to consult a neurologist or other professional. Its possible that your starting a new thread every couple months might eventually get you an answer but more likely your problem is something pretty rare that is going to take a real expert to get answers.

Ifound one answer given to someone on the web. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Neurology/PALINOPSIA-RESOLUTION-OR-TREATMENT/show/895729
Thanks for the question. Sorry to hear about your problem - I'm sure it is very frustrating. The Purvin article suggests that the palinopsia could be a perminent problem. I did do a literature search and found an article in the J Clin Psychiatry
58,30, 1997 that reported resolution of palinopsia with tegretol
tegretol Wish I had more to offer but check this out with your doctor.
There are likely other little bits of info here and there in neurological journals but interpretting them and figuring out how they apply to your case is best left up to a neurologist. Hope this all somehow resolves soon.

Palinopsia iPad Simulation

I've been working on a simulator for Palinopsia on iPad (I have Palinopsia) which I used it in a recent performance: http://cmr.soc.plymouth.a.../alexiskirke/insight.htm
There's more work to do as it's a little exaggerated and doesn't include all effects yet. If you have the time, any feedback would be appreciated.

^ Welcome to bluelight, yet another alex.

Your URL is not currently working. Moreover, if you'd like to open up a discussion on Palinopsia, that if fine, but asking for feedback only without even explaining what Palinopsia is a potential risk for some of your fellow Bluelighters who might have other mental issues. Please PM me with more information about what you're trying to do with this simulator you're making and how you think it might be helpful for the community.
