And lol, no, I was born 1h away from Petra. The "there" I meant was Jordan.

BUH! i must have been drunk, of course you weren't born in a fucking tourist site 8o i'll have to put aleppo on my list, looks like a cool place.

to be real, i don't keep a legitimate list of places i'd like to visit anymore (except japan, i MUST visit that one place) because i've learned that some places i anticipate visiting can let me down while other spots i've never been interested in have had the capacity to entirely transcend my expectations.

a good example would be visiting cuba and latin america. i really expected cuba to be the highlight of my trip and even though i saw some unforgettable shit in cuba (it truly was amazing), witnessing the deeply hidden cultural and natural beauties of continental latin america and being able to connect with locals on a truly one-to-one basis; something that's impossible when one goes trudging through tourist destinations, was an experience that truly blew my mind and forever changed the way i see not just the world but my own life and all of human existence.

going to the most unexpected, foreign place you can and getting lost can be the most incredible journey of your life. in developed society, people so often shun one another that getting lost can be such a scary prospect, but in the sacred places where people don't count time as money and money as the ultimate goal, you'd be surprised at how much a stranger might be willing to extend themselves just to help you feel at home.

Right now I would say Bora Bora but its about 50 degrees out and I can smell burning leaves wafting in the window and it is 2:50 am.

That last picture is great Jammy, reminds me of Santa at the north pole but stuck on some pschedelic infulence. You wonder what that guy reallly knows...

Loving the trans Siberian pics. :)

being able to connect with locals on a truly one-to-one basis; something that's impossible when one goes trudging through tourist destinations

That's not really true.

LOL yes... he is in fact a Yakut (Sakha) shaman (the word 'shaman' actually comes from their language), some of these guys eat Amanitas and people drink their urine to get high. You have a point ;).

has anyone been to the "ping pong" shows in bangkok? I just went last night and it was hilarious. They're all lady boys though....it's kinda disgusting.

btw..do any of you guys know where the climbing gyms are at in this city?

Nah didn't fancy a ping pong show, sounds kinda rubbish. Didn't bother with any of that shit (sex shows, whore bars etc).

well they shoot ping pongs from their vaginas. They also open up water bottles, play horn, blow out candles....It is pretty funny but also kind of gross because these aren't even real women. I'm almost certain they're lady boys. I only went cause it was my gf's friend from work bday and she wanted to go...lol...anyways what a interesting way to spend a first day in thailand.

anyways, I went to the weekend market in the afternoon yesterday and I loved the art section there. Many of the artists there are amazing! really cool art there...I'd definitely recommend anyone to check it out.

I love the Chatuchak markets. So many cool and weird and wonderful things on sale. Went loads of times and could never find the same place twice and would always find a part I hadn't seen before. Did you come across the area with all the live animals, they had cock and dog fights or the thai kickboxing area?

Oh, I know..that place is soo huge! It'll be impossible to see everything in one day. But no we didn't do much there. We just went to go buy some "ali baba" pants and then my gf took me to the art section. That's were we stayed the whole time.

Where is the thai boxing area?

also, do you happen to know of a good place to buy a hookah here?

If I could take the BTS to get to either place that would be perfect.

chatuchak is crazy, no idea how you would give anyone directions to find anything in there.
there is a really nice fried chicken place in there though for sure.

^ Are you going down to Krabi to climb? If so I recommend the deep water solo climbing even for an unfit beginner like me it was awesome.

Yep thats the one Railay beach in Krabi province. There is also Tonsai beach which is a short walk from there. The deep water overhang is on Koh Poda which is just out from there. I think there may be others but thats the one the climbing groups go to.

Over 20,000 stalls at the weekend market, mad place. Love all the tshirt stands, so many unique designs and very cheap too.

I couldn't find the thai boxing area again if I tried let alone tell anyone else how to get there. Just stumbled across a ring with a fight going on.
