gonna see this in imax tomorrow so it better be the craziest, most insane shit ever. i like how everyone in the film looks so sharply dressed :D im also a fan of dicaprio, gordon-levitt, watanabe, nolan and HANS, HANS ZIMMER! a curious combo that i'm curious to see happen so yeah... hopefully will rinse the bad taste of daywalkers out of my mouth (last movie i went to see and left disgusted thinking to myself "IM NEVER GOING TO THE THEATRE AGAIN")

Went to see this yesterday. It was either so good that I couldn't even comprehend it, or it was awful pseudo-intellectual shite. Kinda tried to be the new Matrix and didn't manage it.

I dont see how anyone can't understand this movie. They basically held your hand throughout it explaining it to you.

I thought this movie was amazing first off in story. Im suprised this was never a Book. great great great plot and unlike avatar in which the effects carried the movie, in Inception the effects (which are breathtaking) just add color and shade to the amazing concept and plot.

this is one I will own :)

on a side not Leo dicap has been picking some great movies lately... yes the characters in this and shutter island are extremely similar, but this movie and shutter island are two seperate animals.

Lol at the Matrix being better than Total Recall. I heard this movie was over rated, I'm going to wait till it comes out on DVD to see it.

Just sneak in and watch it, you cheap bastard. Make like you're on your phone, waiting for your girl to come out. When the side doors open, usually 30 minutes before the movie starts again, say something like, "I'm going to go see if she fell in! Goddamn her to hell! Why am I even with this procrastinating whore?!"

Poof! You're in. Bring candy you bought at the Dollar Tree for extra win.

And The Matrix is a better movie than Total Recall. Not taking away from Total Recall's awesomeness. That's just the way things are.

I'm going to see it tommorow should be good, I also saw that the director made Memento which was awesome

I thought it was pretty dumb. The plot made virtually no sense other than that you knew what was happening because there was always a conveniently placed character explaining it to you. It looked good, but the film took itself waaay too seriously given how silly the ideas in it were. In contrast, Total Recall was completely over the top 1980s ridiculous to the max, and that's a much better style if your film is based on an absurd concept. At the very least they should have set this film in the future. I try not to let logic interfere with my enjoyment of movies, but there was too much nonsense and gratuitous slow motion in this film.

By far a much more interesting take on dreams, subconscious and the world of the mind is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which cost many, many millions of dollars less to make.

Couldn't agree more. I nearly burst out laughing in that early line about Leonardo diCaprio being an 'extractor' or whatever.
And I also think the choice of Ellen Page for Ariadne was crazy. She looks about 15 whilst all the others looks about 30 and has too much of the attitude-filled teenager thing going on from Juno for this one.

She's kinda too short to be an actor. I dunno how Ellen page gets roles

Inception is way over-rated. I don't get what people think is so great about it. For me, at best it was just OK. Not great, not shit... just lukewarm meh.

i'm actually pretty fucking upset with how such an epic cast was TOTALLY squandered and almost pushed out of the frame by all the fucking special effects. i was also upset at how it could have been an EPIC dream movie. i mean, dream heist? YA RITE! AMIRITE?! if it were more slick, character-driven action instead of leave-nothing-standing kind of action it could have been so so so freaking epic.

i mean come on, you can give all the characters guns and grenade launchers, C4 and zero gravity in just about ANY action movie plot. WHY waste the infinite potential of such a trippy concept with all the explosive bullshit? gordon-levitt's suaveness was literally the only reason i didn't walk out of the theatre 3/4s of the way through. the characters could have developed so much in all the time wasted blowing shit up and shooting people.

to add insult to injury, all the violence was dream violence making it completely fucking meaningless. basically it was just nolan on a visceral joyride visibly placing his ego on a mantle above the cast.

What a waste! Didn't care much for the characters and the plot just stupid! Half way through the movie I thought about sneaking in Twilight: Eclipse ;)

It was pretty decent. Wouldn't rank it amongst Nolan's best work though. That said Nolan being pretty decent is still soo much better than what many other directors could hope for.

I expected a lot more twists in the story, but it was fairly straight forward (I know there's a bunch of different interpretations for the film overall but just speaking of the plot).

4/5.

I agree somewhat, although all the violence wasn't totally unneccessary. They explained about midway through (when they first started the mission to implant the idea into that one guy's mind) that they were so deeply sedated that death in the dream would most likely equal an inability to wake up in real life (coma), or something to that effect. I'll agree that it seemed like the film took itself too seriously a lot of the time.

What bothered me most was that whole "the bad guys can't aim for shit and the good guys never miss" sorta thing. Seriously, when the white van was being chased and shot at throughout the movie not one of the 6 people inside ever got hit? They were unloading on it with short barrell shotguns and automatic rifles...c'mon now.

Not to mention the sequence in the end with the snow compound and the fact that 5 guys manage to outshoot and outmanuever an entire army. I expect that kind of shit in a superhero movie but not one that was taking itself as seriously as Inception was...

Overall I thought it was a decent film. As far as Leo's work goes, I thought Shutter Island was better.

the beginning was kinda all over the place and i was bored but overall it was great. blew my mind.

You have to realize that the men they are fighting are all part of Cillian Murphy's subconscious. They weren't really whole beings in thought like the main characters. I may be breathing too much into it, but I can see how your subconscious wouldn't make for a great shot.

3/5

Cool concept. Too long, liked the cast though. Yeah, the subconscious is probably not the best shot out there. I guess thats semantics though, and the ending pissed me off.

Stop fucking spinning thingy! 8)
