I have been on Vyvanse for about a year now. It is like aderall but has one less chemical from what I understand. Last July I got sick with what I thought was the flew at first but it lasted for 3 months. I did not have insurance so I couldnt afford the costly tests to find out what it was. The main symptom was nausea all the time.

Then in January I got the same thing back. I woke up one morning really nautious and it has continued for 5 months now. It got real bad for a while there but is a little better now. It is especially bad in the morning or if I eat cirtain foods or drink alchohol. Then the other symptoms that could be nasea related are fatigue, light headed, weight loss ( 186Lbs down to 158lbs) aches and pains, depression, anxiety, hard to get out of bed etc.
I have had all the gastro tests and all are normal. I take Zoloft, and Vivance every day and pain Killers and other pills ocationally. Has anyone had or heard of someone having nasea this bad from Vyvanse, aderall or any other stimulant like it? I had been on Vyvanse for a little while prior to getting sick so I never connected the two but I am now thinking that something may have built up. But then why did it go away? I now have the nausea patches behind my ear which allows me to function but I am always feeling sick.

Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

I used to get really nauseous whenever I'd do TONS of Adderall. But I was also a pretty big tweaker at the time, & although I wouldn't ever mix Adderall & Meth, when I would do Adderall I'd do up to 300mg of Adderall XR in the course of around 24 hours. I think I'd get nauseous from doing 200mg in 24 hours & any dose upwards, & there were times when I got nauseous doing like 60mg or maybe a bit more of immediate release Adderall instead of Adderall XR. Those are all, obviously, pretty damn high dosages though. If your dosage is low, or "normal", or even just slightly above normal, you really shouldn't be having such a big problem with nausea. Is it possible you could be allergic or something?

Well I am making an apointment with an allergist as my next course of action and I will ask him if he has ever heard of an alergy to this type of medication. I would think I would have been sick right from the start of taking the drug if that was the case though. It would have had to be a reaction to Vyvanse that built up over time because the first month or two I was on it I felt great. Actually I'm going to call my doc and see exactly when I started taking Vyvanse and I will post it because I'm not exactly sure when it was. Oh and I started at 30 mgs and moved quickly up to 80 where I am now.

^ Be careful going to see an allergy doctor. I went to one when I was younger and was supposedly allergic to everything. He made me get allergy shots that made me very sick and once I got viral meningitis due to the shot. I'm not saying all allergy doctors are like that, hell that is the only one I have been to in my life. Perhaps you are not truly allergic to amphetamines, you really should talk to your doctor prescribing your medication instead. Try something that isn't an amphetamine and see how that works for you. Or you could try eating or not eating before taking your medication. I wish the best for you.

When I come down from a high dose of Vyvanse, I get nauseas and a lot of allergy-like symptoms (red eyes, which in turn causes a runny nose)

I STRONGLY suggest having a "HEDI-Scan" done & finding out the functioning (if any..) of your GALLBLADDER. Gallbladder pain is one of the WORST and most uncomfortable pain you could deal with.

I myself went 3 months, extremely sick. Morning was the worst. Nauseated all the time, just plan sick. Vommitting at times. Burning in my chest, pain in my abdomen, the nauseousness was unreal. I was prescribed many different medications including, Phenagan, Zofran, Carafate, Pepcid, Reglan, & a few others all to treat the symptoms.

Finally, after months of agony, (also being on MMT), and after a hedi-scan we found that my gullbladder has died & completely stopped working w/ 0% function. I'm now recovering from surgery, having had it removed just a few days ago, last thursday.

I haven't read anyone elses comment. I am no doctor and this may or not be the problem, it's just sum of your symptoms, multiple actually, are painstakingly close to mine and it really was the worst. No buddy could really understand unless going through it and everyonee who has gullbladder issues or what not, getting different symptoms and expierence it all diff. all together. No two people are really the same, but I have definitely found things in common with other people who have had these issues.. I seriously would suggest a "HEDI-Scan", which will tell you what % your gallbladder is functioning at, plus any other issues w/ your gallbladder that other tests simply can not.

Good luck to you, & very curious to hear how your doing.
- Retrospect

EDIT:
By the way, again, I just re-read all the posts & what not.. & again, I can't tell you how similiar our symptoms really are. I have seen a gastroenterologist and everything. I had ultrasounds, x-rays, endoscopy, etc. Many, many tests. Months of agony, sickness, not going a day without my nausea meds (zofran and phenagan). Acid reflux, burning in my chest. Lots and lots of problems, on top of the stress it put on my wife, having an eight month old son and all. I been really sick because of this, and now finally founding out my gallbladder failed and having it removed.. Like I said, i'm recovering for surgery but I can't tell you how great it feels to NOT wake up feeling sick, nauseated, my anxiety, heart palpitations because I would get soo worked out by the sickness... I feel for you...

Ask for the "HEDI-Scan", as well as an ultrasound of your abdomen. My ultrasound was absolutely perfect, because I had no stones or anything in my gallbladder.. come to find out, two months after the ultrasound, the hedi-scan... Revealed (thankfully) that my gallbladder had 0% function!! When you have a TRUE 0%, it means your gallbladder has died and completely stopped working. Normal function is ATLEAST between 35% - 75%. I'm a guy, 21 yrs old.

I really am interested to hear what you find out.

An allergy would have most likely started in the beginning, I really don't think that's it at all or has ANYTHING to do w/ your medications, but again, no doctor.. honestly, look up gallbladder problems, bring it up to your doctor.. I think you'll your answer around that avenue... and I can really imagine, how much this has bothered you, & how you just really would love to feel well again. Good luck and hope to hear back soon.

Vyvanse & Nausea - Possible Serotonin Issues

I take Zoloft, and Vivance every day and pain Killers and other pills ocationally. Has anyone had or heard of someone having nasea this bad from Vyvanse, aderall or any other stimulant like it? I had been on Vyvanse for a little while prior to getting sick so I never connected the two but I am now thinking that something may have built up.

First of all, let me qualify by saying I'm not a medical professional. Disclaimers aside, this is my understanding based on Internet reserach (I suggest you research it yourself to confirm or talk to your doctor.)

Vyvanse by itself can cause stomach irritation, so I'm *guessing* that it could lead to stomach sensitivity if taken for a prolonged period. That's the reason I ended up on this board because I'm having nausea every day after taking it for 6 months with no issues.

But, you are combining Zoloft & Vyvanse so there's something you might want to consider. Any time you are taking an anti-depressant the whole point is to raise your serotonin levels. However, even a lot of health care providers don't take into account that stimulant meds for AD/HD also elevate your serotonin levels. Zoloft, Prozac etc. take time to build up in your system and it *IS* possible to have too much serotonin in your system.

In severe cases, serotonin syndrome occurs and the results can be deadly. I take Prozac and Vyvanse and I can only take the Prozac for a couple weeks out of every month. Even on the smallest does of Prozac (10mg) the drug builds up in my system and I get severe naseau, diarrhea, blurred vision and lethargy. I take the Prozac for Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder so without it I have severe muscle & joint pain and extreme irritability. I seem to be VERY sensitive to serotonin increases in my body and when I get too much in my system, I know it... first by the fatigue and blurred vision, followed by the stomach upset.

Not only do I have to stop taking the Prozac, but I have to ALSO stop taking Vyvanse. I was only able to figure it out when I would take the Vyvanse and it would put me to sleep instead of helping me get going and functional (I have ADD without hyperactivity so my normal state is sluggish.)

If I were you I would talk to your doctor about adjusting either the Zoloft dose or Vyvanse dose or both and look into symptoms of serotonin syndrome just to be on the safe side.

^I also thought about a serotonin related issue, due to combining the Zoloft with vyvanse. Pure speculation, of course. I was prescribed Zoloft a long time ago, and it made me feel like utter shit. Anxiety, aches, pains, no appetite, insomnia, etc. It was horrible, so I promptly got rid of that bullshit drug.

We can sit here and speculate for days, but unfortunately nobody here is a doctor or can accurately diagnose a medical issue via the internet. Unfortunately your only option is to go to the doctor. An office visit and a blood test, while not free, shouldn't cost you THAT much.. It is one hundred percent worth the little money, if your health is suffering.

You have been suffering for so long, something clearly isn't kosher. Ask your parents or a friend to borrow some money, if you really can't afford it. Many doctors will work with you, and put you on a payment plan or a reduced rate. Or just show up at the ER, and they have to treat you even with no insurance. You then could apply for charity care and most likely not even have to pay. That is what I did before I had medicaid, and if I decided not to go and keep suffering, I never would have found out about the 13 centimeter tumor in my sternum, and the fluid around my heart, collapsed lung, and 50% decrease in blood oxygen level. You probably don't have cancer, but just saying it PAYS TO GO.

Good luck.

My Vyvanse will sometimes make me feel sick. It is usually a lethargic feeling with a headache behind the eyes like I drank too much caffeine trying to relieve a hangover. This is very dependent on diet and med intake for me. It happens if I haven't eaten of have eaten poorly (too much sugar usually) or had too much coffee. Also, I've noticed that any medications with phenylephrine (Dayquil, etc...) will make me feel extremely spacey, uncomfortable, dysphoric and sick to my stomach. I will also feel sick if i don't get enough sleep. My dose does not keep me awake and stimulated when I'm naturally fatigued, yet I don't exactly feel sleepy, just zombified, if that makes sense, and this can result in nausea. It is weird, but I avoid all these things and the beneits GREATLY outweigh any side-effects. It sounds like your side-effects may be nullifying any benefits. You may want to drop the Vyvanse. Have you tried a non-amphetamine stimulant? I would reccomend dex-methylphenidate (Focalin) as it is much smoother than Ritalin, just as Vyvanse is much smoother than Adderall and for primarily the same pharmokinetic reasons.
