Legal smokes

Hi
I dabbled with some legal smokes about 3 months ago. I smoked very little of the stuff(Spice Gold, SkomePlus, SmokeXXX and a couple of others). I would make a little joint using one fag paper and some tobacco. i would then take a couple of hits and fuck the stuff away. The last blend I smoked(2 hits) made me go insane. My heart started to pond heavy, paranoia, I felt like a robot that broke down.
My body was also shaking. That all happened about 3 months ago and I still don't feel right.(I feel a little off) I think the hypochondria I feel is making things worse. I feel I have ruined my life. Am I giving this bad experience to much taught? Will I get better over time? I have not touched any substance since then. Reading the scare blogs about legal highs did not help either. Can someone who has been through the same experience help?
Thanks.
Oh, I have not taken a drink, smoked anything, not even fags in the last 3 months. I am also attending AA(Patrick's Hill, Cork City, Ireland)

This isnt really the kind of support you are looking for, this is technical support. I think this thread could go in a number of places, so I'll send it over to The Dark Side for now and if they feel its more suited somewhere else they will move it again for you :)

I'm not really experienced in that field at all, but I'd say people are pretty resiliant and tend to go back to being themselves after a bad experience like the one it sounds like you had, even if it takes months. I'm sure with time you will be back to yourself again, so try not to worry too much. If things still dont feel right you can always seek out counciling, but honestly I'd be willing to bet that within another few months you'll hardley remember it.

<3 Good luck

Just give it some more time, which sucks, but it's the best method for letting your body recover. That is a LONG time ago to still be feeling effects. Did you regularly do something that would combine with that stuff to make it worse? like drinking cough syrup on anti depressents fuck you up for a couple days to a week.

Also props for 3 months and AA

Hi Garret :)

Sorry to hear you've had such negative effects from the legal highs. It can be pretty misleading that they're labelled "legal highs", one might automatically assume that they're safer or will have less side effects than illegal drugs. But really, they can have some pretty nasty side effects, as you have unfortunately found out.

The good news is that what you're experiencing won't last forever, so don't worry that you've ruined your life or anything like that. It will get better and you will be able to feel more normal again. It can take a while for our brain and body to heal after a particular experience with any drug, and for each person it can be slightly different.

If you're still really struggling with this 3 months after using the drug, my suggestion is to go and speak to your doctor and perhaps get a referral to see a psychologist. You can discuss how you're feeling and they can give you ways to cope with the symptoms. But keep in mind, you will get better with time.

Good luck, and let us know how you go <3

*edit* Also, just an administrative note, you only need to post threads once here on Bluelight, the mods will move and edit threads as necessary :)

This seems to be a recurring theme. People have a cannabinoid-induced panic attack, then bring that panic back with them to everyday reality for days, weeks, or months.

Hi

Thanks for the help. It was the worst thing that happened to me and maybe also the best. I have not even smoked a fag since then. Thanks again.

One of the potential problems with the legal smoke blends is that some manufacturers do a shoddy job of distributing the active components in the blends.
If you loaded as much JWH-018 or whatever as you could onto an herb, and smoked a normal sized hit, it would fling you straight to panicville! If they're careless in making the smoke blend, they could easilly end up with bits of the final product having unusually high loadings of the active, and others completely inert. Also, if the synthetic is added as a powder, instead of dissolved in a solvent that's sprayed on, it could settle in transit even if it was evenly distributed to begin with.

I suspect this is what causes these events we keep hearing about with synthetic cannabinoid smoke blends.

scary stuff, and its all so avoidable.

sorry your going through this garret, thanks for sharing too, its good to have these sorts of reactions/experiences "on record" so to speak, and made into useful information.

I've had a terrible experience with oral JWH-018 (dissolved in IPA). I took like 20 mg's because 10 didn't do ANYTHING the time before that. I had a panic attack. I thought I was dying and could feel my hart pounding like 250 BPM (and pounding hard too!). Even though I knew it had to be a panic attack I was scared and already dialed 112 (911). Waited for about thirty seconds thinking about all the bs it would cause having an ambo over. Didn't press call and took a hefty dose of GHB instead which calmed me down almost instantly.

I threw the stuff away after that.. I don't think I had too many bad after effects although smoking weed seemed to make me more paranoid then it used to. I quit everything maybe a week later. I've had anxiety attacks before from regular weed, especially when I was younger. This was of a whole other intensity though. I was unable to rationalize and thought I was dying for a moment.

Ive heard too many stories of psychosis and extreme anxiety/paranoid episodes plus the jwhs could be carcinogenic. I'd say stick to the real thing if possible, something just rubs me wrong about the jwhs so ive never tried/wanted to try them

Hi
My experience was not as bad as some peoples, thank God. I just hope that I have not damaged my mind. Do you think the brain can heal once you stop using weed or synthetic cannabinoids?
Surly the mind can settle to it's normal state.

Yes! Absolutely it can. Sometimes it just takes time, but the brain is an amazing organ and is definitely capable of repairing itself from the damage we do to it from drug use/abuse.

I'm sure you can find plenty of brain training exercises online to try and speed up the healing process <3

thax for th info
i was going to get some blends cause im being ua'd for a job. now i know tosta the fuck away
with all sinserity thak you for expiranceing that for me and it sux you had to indor that

Please do

Hi
Please do fuck the stuff away. Don't take the chance. The people who made this stuff don't give a fuck about plants(herbal my ass!) or people. If you want to smoke something, then smoke real weed. If you have a bad experience with these legal smokes, you won't be able to enjoy smoking weed anymore.
The only reason why these head shops exist is because we live in backwards society. I am telling you now, this is dangerous stuff. Never touch the stuff.

I've had the same experience. Smoked a new blend, the most potent one they had that day, never tried it before. Following a blunt I began to have blurred vision, with my anxiety growing increasingly worse.

What followed was my brain attacking me. Literally. I sat there for around 30 minutes having thoughts of, "You fucked up everything, you're going to the hospital, you're body is failing, you're going to die, everyone hates you, your parents don't love you, you just keep fucking up." It went on and on and on for the thirty minutes.

I had to tell myself that it was, indeed a panic attack and I was just acting manic. I managed to calm down and have since recovered.

I still smoke the shit, only sticking away from that blend. As of now, I'm fine and the stuff gets me a high that I want, not a high that makes me fear for my life.

Basically, just remind yourself that you weren't in the correct state of mind and it was just the substance. You will be okay.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one.

Hi
No, you are not the only one. I am feeling a lot better. I am still little hypochondriac. I never had eye floaters before. I am 39 years of age. Maybe it's my age. I noticed them about 3 months ago after I quit everything. Maybe because I was looking for problems that I found them. I know they are harmless. Would the synthetic cannabinoids cause them and will they go away. I have the cob-web type eye floaters and sometimes I think I have just seen a fly cross my vision.
Will this hypochondria ever leave me? Any thing that happens to me I blame it on the smoke.
Does anyone understand?

eye problems

Hi

I noticed that I have eye floaters. I noticed them about 3 months after quitting everything(smoking weed, fags, drink and legal smokes). Could the legal smokes cause eye floaters? I know that I am mildly depressed and stressed. The stress is due to life changes and worry. Remember I only dabbled with legal smokes. I have been kind of hypochondriac ever since. Can anyone give me some advice? I have just turned 39. Could it be my age?
Thanks.

Garret

^^ Floaters are usually caused by lack of sleep and stress. But if there has been a sudden and large increase in the amount of floaters in your vision you should get it checked out with an optometrist. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac too so I can understand your concern, but most of the time floaters are harmless. Only you will know if it's worth getting checked out or not.
And to more specifically answer your question, I doubt that the floaters are caused by the synthetic cannabinoids.

Hi

I just came back from an optometrist. She told me that if I get a large amount of them I should return. Anyway, I think you are right; it's the stress and the mild depression. Will they go away and why am I so worried about my health since I smoked the stuff. If the hypochondria was latent in me, would the synthectic cannabinoids bring it out. Will the hyopchondria go away? If I did not have the floaters and mild depression I would not be worried so much. It's a vicious circle. I have not taken any other kind of drug. I read on other threads about people who have taken acid and developed eye floaters and other horrible vision problems that seen to never go away for the person who is suffering from them.
I think I should talk to a counselor. I wish I was convinced that I will be ok. It's a horrible feeling.
