Pets MEGA Cats VS Dogs - POLL!

The Big Question - Cat v's Dog

My Bengal, Sasha, has just proved to me (well last weekend actually) that she can play fetch. I throw a little lego (she won't bring back her fuzzy ball) and she bats it around for a second and then brings it right by back to me. She places it right at my feet. It took very little prompting to get her to do this, I was positively amazed!

She's a pretty smart kitty! :) And stunning to boot!

Yep, two of my kitties play fetch!! When I get home I'll link a video of Smoodge, our ginger boy, playing fetch.
So cute isn't it!! <3

Oh my god that is ridiculously adorable!!! =D <3

I love both! I had a dog when I was growing up, so until I started fostering cats for the local humane society and eventually adopted one, I would have voted canine. But now I can't decide! I like that the poll results are almost evenly split between cats and dogs.

Cats, definitely. Dogs are just so much work, and I find them annoying. I have 2 cats, and all I do is feed them. They have a litter box, but they never use it, they just go outside. And unlike dogs, they don't just shit in the open for people to step in. Dog waste seems to be everywhere, I hate irresponsible owners who don't clean up after their mutts. Cats are loving animals, too. There's a bunch of stray kittens that live outside, and one of my cats protects them from the other strays. How adorable is that?

Here's an update on my current tanks
Here's my 20g nano reef that sits on my dresser, 30"x12"x12"

Sorry for the blurry photo but the soda can on the left side is good for reference

I need access to a better camera...these were taken on my iphone.
The 2.5g pico usually looks a little more vibrant...I just cleaned it up a bit.

Here is a pic taken a few hours later once they settled back in...much better

Sadly, 2 of my tiger barbs died after I performed a water change yesturday. I might have been a little too hasty when cleaning out more than 50% of the water. They must have died from either shock, or inhaling some of the debris that was picked up after I poured a fresh amount of water.

I replaced the 2 with a Gourami, and 3 guppy's(yellow leopard, flamingo, and phantom guppys) to keep the 4 zebra Danio's. The testing strips all read optimal, except for a little nitrate being detected.

I'd also like to add that my betta is still doing fine. I upgraded his bowl to a bigger 1.75 gallon bowl, and keep it next to my computer lamp to keep the temperature up.

However, the betta is being a really fussy eater lately. I tried 3 different foods (freeze dried bloodworms, tropical fish flakes, and bio-gold) he seems to not touch the flakes (both small and large flakes), he eats the bloodworms as soon as he see's them, but ends up spitting them out soon after he swallows them. Same with the bio-gold pellets. He's been like this since the weather started getting cold.
If he wasn't eating anything throughout this whole time, he would have died for sure, so i'm almost positive that he seems to be finding something to eat in there. Perhaps the mini snails that I threw in there from my regular tank.

Also, one last thing: There's a thin slime layer on top of the water of his bowl... I believe this is because of the lack of surface agitation. Should I remove it when it builds up? or is it something that the fish created just like the bubble nests he used to make during the summer?

I have a 10ish gallon freshwater tank, which right now is home only to a red GloFish, a glass cat, and an orange neon tetra. I had a really awesome shark for a long time that disappeared one day (shit you not - never found the body) after having been living on its own for quiet some time. Don't know if my cats got it or what, but I don't know how that would have happened, as the tank is 99% covered... I'm probably going to get a few more fun little bright-colored fishies over break when I have some time to clean up the tank a little. My focus is generally on "weird" and/or brightly colored fish or anything that looks cool under black light for when I put on all my mood lighting at home, and I almost always keep a pleco in there to keep the algae down.

^^ Hmm that is perplexing about your shark...
Perhaps he somehow managed to jump out the 1% uncovered part, and then your kitties ate him??
Weird...

Any pics of your current set-up?

B_P your betta is looking pretty healthy! Weird about him not eating...

That's the only thing I can think of, but I never saw that shark jump in my life, and there's a good 3 inches from the top of the water to the top of the tank most of the time... It's the most bizarre shit I've ever seen... I don't know if the shark jumped out or if somehow the cat got a paw in there or what... *twilight zone music* lol

Any pics of your current set-up?
I can try to take one after finals are over. I shouldn't even be on here right now =D

I have just started my first freshwater aquarium in years (the last being the one my dad made for me when I was a kid!). They really do go a long way in improving mood and reducing stress.

I'm considering this my "crash course" into freshwater aquariums. Since I live right beside a peat bog (funny how a friggen bog can have become so useful in wars!), I am hoping that, come spring, I can start collecting specimens from the bog and trying to replicate its environment.

Currently I have:
- 4X Neon Tetras (at least getting 4 more today or tomorrow).
- 5X Guppies. There is at least 1 female, so I expect babies soon. Maybe I should add some alcohol to make it easier? ;)
- 4 Goldfish: 1 Black Moor (my favourite, so cute!); 1 small, typical, and very orange; and 2 bubble goldfish. Unfortunately I had to take these two out into a bowl because their bubbles got sucked into the filter and they kept being picked on by the guppies :(
- The star of the show: a Dragon Goby. I'm in love with it and hope to get more!

There are two species of plants that I'll look up.

I am hoping to add any eel I could find, and a Silver Dollar or two (or, failing that, angelfish). Also, whatever shrimp I could find that wouldn't get eaten.

Pics soon!

Fuck yea my vote broke the tie and put dogs in the lead.

Take that, cat loving scum!

JK, I'm ok with cats.... I much prefer dogs though.

In theory I like cats. I mean, they take care of themselves and don't NEED you.
I really like dogs because they need you to be happy and I need something like that. I mean, I get pretty down sometimes and doggies ALWAYS lift my mood.
