The Big & Dandy Music on Psychedelics Thread (Track #1)

Jerry Garcia had a star named after him when he died. And Frank Zappa. May be mistaken but weren't their ashes both shot into space or did I dream that on some wonky trip? Always a distinct possibility =D

Also, I can't stand the Grateful Dead ;)

^Haha nah, Jerry's ashes are strewn in the San Francisco bay (and a small portion in the Ganges as well, actually). I dunno about Zappa, but space would seem like a fitting place for him to rest. :D

I think this thread deserves a mention of the movie Across The Universe. Tons of fun and a very trippy way to present Beatles music. I Want You is just insane.

I have nothing else relevant to add other than that my wife bought me the remastered Beatles box set for my recent birthday and it's awesome.

Yea I personally love the Beatles while tripping LSD...It just brings your setting to a new dimension. "Octopus's Garden" is epic. It all just seems so mellow and trppy...

Haha that is such an amazing photo. I wonder if there are any posters of it floating around

I was a big beatles fan before I started my psychedelic career and I love their music on a whole new level these days. They were so very creative and experimental, which goes hand in hand with a psychedelic experience.

Great stuff <3

The Beatles & Pink Floyd are some of my all time favorites. And I gotta agree about Strawberry Fields. That song on is insane on psychedelics! Wow.

I love The Wall by Pink Floyd also. The whole album is music genius. Every single little sound is sooo perfect. It's really a trip, even sober.

I have been a religious beatle fan since i was a kid. Across the universe is my fav acid song though. but seriously, FUCK that movie. Only the Beatles can really tap into the cosmic wisdom of their songs. My justification for my first bong rip was that if the beatles did it, it couldnt be too bad. That just started a long process of psychedelic enlightenment. The beatles love album is pretty psychedelic, but the little pieces of songs they used dont last long enough, so you get all into it and then the song has changed.

OH! and While my guitar gently weeps is another good one for the substances.

Pft, I don't believe in the holy cows, and I look up to The Beatles as highly as I look up to any of the other great prophets. But "only the Beatles can really tap into the cosmic wisdom?" Really? Really?

The movie is awesome fun if watched in the right light. It's a creative and trippy play on The Beatles, their music, the time, psychedelics, and just some generally trippy and thought-provoking imagery. In terms of the music itself, it's no replacement...

I love to listen to to beatles on lsd. Not just their later acid washed albums but their stuff from like '62. Sometimes I make a point to put the Beatles on while I'm tripping but it usually just happens. I love the Beatles more than any person should and I love LSD much more than any person should so my two loves are bound to intersect at some point.

A large portion of my last trip involved playing the Beatles rock band with my friends, that game has some insane visual stimuli.

The Beatles and Pink Floyd are my favorite bands. John Lennon and George Harrison were simply musical geniuses. Pink Floyd however, their creativity and imagination is just on another world. I love it :).

^^ Check out King Crimson! the album "In the Court of the Crimson King" and the album "Red" are some of the best. Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford are muscial geniuses. Listen to the last song on "Red" called "Starless" on LSD. The ending is so epic, it's orgasmic! I urge anyone who likes some of the classics to check those albums out.

Well, let me elaborate. Truly beautiful music sounds like HEAVEN - and crappy music sounds like HELL.

First thing I have noticed, that you will be able to really get into the sound. What has really intrigued me is how some records which have sounded pretty OK when I was sober (Van Der Graf Generator & Can records pop into my mind now), sounded absolutely terrible on acid, because I was capable of distinguishing every flaw in production and sound engeneering. This is probably the reason why many like to listen to Dark Side of the Moon while tripping... even though it's not really psychedelic, it's almost flawless concerning the studio work (hell... it took fucking 7 months to make it).

Productionisn't the be all of things to listen to on acid as some things with good production still sound boring and conversly less than perfect production can still sound brilliant (Case in point being Hawkwind's Space Ritual; not te best production malues going for a live album, but really conveys the feel of a psychedelic performance - then again I'm biased as I've seen Hawkwind so many times - usually tripping - I've lost count)

Not all of KC's stuff is suited to acid - something like The Great Deceiver or Lark's Tounges in Aspic pt 2 are a tad abrasive for psychedelics IMO (still think they're great tracks though, esp on stimulants ;) )

Two tracks that really blew me away 1st time I heard them tripping were Beatles - She Said She Said & Hendric - Crosstown Traffic

PS The first Hendrix album - Are You Experienced? - is a must to listen to tripping. Imagine what it must have sounded like in 1967 when it was first released 8o8o

Hehe. Hawkwind all the way, Bulby Baby. Jerry Garcia's boobies aren't nearly as nice as the lovely Stacia's :D

I'd also recommend a little known album by some psyche-freak or other called An Infinite Complexity of Significance - goes great with ket and 2C-D. And I suspect a few other things ;)
