right...so can spiders hurt buds?

so yeah, just been out to pick up off my usual guy, get to his house have a coffee and such get down to the weighing game, he pulls out his big baggy and I see about 4 spiders running around through the bag...

he empties it ont othe table and seriously, like 10-15 little spiders were all over these few oz, like they'd made a nest or something. I brought this up and he offered me the bud at pretty much half price. which I declined and went to pick up from backup guy instead.

What I wanna know is, is this shit common, can they hurt the bud, and wtf? i've never seen oat like that before. don't fancy smoking spider eggs, but if they don't hurt you at ALL i'll take some half price smoke.
 
I'd take half price bud, if i could confirm that those were spiders and not bugs (which would be eating the weed). I'd gas the buds with something to kill the spiders and then process the buds to make them spider-part free, and then smoke as usual.

Gassing with CO2 would be easiest (soda charger). Gassing with N2O would not be advisable, nor would anything that could stay in the weed. Could also gently heat in a toaster oven (taking care to not get it so hot that it combusts, vaporizes the thc, etc). Point is to kill the spiders without destroying the weed, so there are lots of options.
 
Also, were they actual spiders, or spider mites? Spider mites leave little webs in the bud and which can be avoided by some work while they are growing. Spider mites are fairly microscopic and you wouldn't be able to see them moving(unless you have an infestation like no other)
 
Wow, that is so weird. I can honestly say I have never had spiders moving around through my bud, and there was a time when I would keep about 2 ounces on me at all times. Tell your dude to keep his bud in mason jars. That should eliminate the spider problem.

And as for buying it at half price, I probably would have (:

I just wouldn't buy any bud with spiders coming out of it on principle. All I would be thinking is that i'd be smoking little spider carcasses and ergh. I couldn't do it.
 
Whoever had it probably hid it the attic or something for a while and they just made a home for it. One time i found a bettle real small, it looked like a green seed, but it somehow was inside the bud. It obviously was chillin in the plant while it was growing and the bud grew over it somehow and killed it. Crazy stuff but that has happened once in almost 6 years, id say bugs in your pot isnt common but happens.
 
If they were little spiders a spider might have had laid some eggs on the buds or something. Sounds a bit odd to have them coming out of your weed but honestly it wouldn't really bother me at all. For half price I'd be more than willing to just shake my bud and check for little spider bodies before running it through the grinder. Smoking a spider or 2 wouldn't particularly bother me, I've done a lot worse on purpose.
 
i don't think i could get over the fact there might be eggs and shit i don't see in it

but if i got offered half price i'd probably reup with that for some real dank
 
Smoking eggs of certain insects is all to common. Do you smoke cigs or cigars? If so, congratulations! You also smoke living/dormit beetle larva!

I wouldn't take the spider bud, though, without freezing the shit out of it in a fridge for 48 hours. No need for fancy gas or anything. It's what we in the cigar circles do with.. ermm... imported cigars... from... a little island south of flordia...
 
I got a few spiders on my plants, they wont harm your buds they are actually good while growing keeps other bugs from ruining your harvest. If it was me id be getting rid of those during flowering/harvesting no one wants spider on their buds. Just get rid of them and any eggs if possible and should be fine.
 
Thanks for all the replies guys, guess i'm not the only one a bit freaked out by this. But half price bud can't be passed up , been round this morning and took the rest. It's currently in the freezer atm when it's cold enough im gonna pick through it and get rid of every last spider. Then help someone else out if ya get me. :P

I've picked apart this quarter oz after a mild freezing and there was only 2 spiders total in the whole thing (and believe me, I mae sure.) The guy who said insect eggs are in cigs proper put my mind at ease and I gotta say it's not bad weed. :) might make some spider hash instead of getting rid of it hah!
