do you drive when you're high?

I digress.

Yes, I do drive high, often. It's illegal, you shouldn't do it, but then again.... does legality stop any of us from enjoying bud?

For the sake of harm prevention, if you don't think you can drive high, don't let this thread inspire thoughts to the contrary.

It's not about the legality, it's about the morality. I don't not drive high because it's illegal, I don't do it because it's selfish and reckless.

Perhaps for you, but after 5 years practice with no accidents, I can safely conclude my driving ability is negligibly effect by cannabis' general effects (not eating, mind you).

Couldn't one spin that? "I don't do heroin because it's illegal, I don't do heroin because it's morally wrong, selfish, and reckless."

Just sayin'. Like I said, I digress, this topic belongs more in philosophy forum at this point.

I could smoke a few joints and drive fine. I could probably do a few lines of coke and drive fine. I still don't, and I don't think that many people would think it was cool if I did. Doing heroin only endangers yourself. Driving on drugs endangers other people. There is no analogy between making a personal choice to do drugs, and getting behind the wheel of a car in an impaired state and taking to the streets.

I drive high A LOT...

actually, I will get high and get into my car and drive around JUST BC i'm high... i have a really nice stereo and it just gets into my soul and i can feel the music.

wow that was such a pothead thing to say lol

Dude, your post is way off. Yerga's point is, it's morally wrong to endanger other peoples lives while driving high. How can you even compare that to the use of a drug? He's not saying it's morally wrong to take the drug, but it is when you're driving in a car, a dangerous thing to begin with.

Tomer

^I like the sound of Yerga, she could be my internet wife. But yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.

I alway drove high/stoned personally it never affected my driving....although some peoples might say otherwise, this is my personal opinion on my experience.

Smoked for over 10 years, almost a quarter a week at times.

The only time my driving was affected was when I was straight which wasn't often....I would get really hyper active and drive recklessly mainly due to not being stoned.

Sorry, I was very stoned on that last post. The other posts I had in this thread were much more relevant and I stand by those, and I don't care to take the time to elaborate on the topic (I feel that taking some drugs or allowing them to become a problem does/can lead to harm to others -- but CD really isn't the place for all that :) ) I just didn't like the way that logic train was looking.

Anyway, the main point wasn't to draw a comparison which needed some elaboration, it was just that I don't think it is morally wrong for certain people to drive while high, and I suppose that's just where our opinions don't meet. I don''t want to rehash all the other posts in this thread I've already posted up, lol, but if you'd like to read my opinion on why you can check the past few pages. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The problem is that no-one seems comfortable applying the same logic to any other recreational drug. If it's ok to drive stoned, it's ok to drive spun.

Do you guys think it's a really bad idea to cycle stoned or high on other drugs? I really didn't think it was, but I'm starting to think that maybe it isn't such a good idea as my bike is really fast (racer).

yeah people always say that you drive fine when you're high. not me. i make baaaad bad decisions. i cant drive for the sake of missions when im high, ill end up driving in circles or in the wrong direction. that sort of thing. and i become a total pussy, scared to make any bold decisions. especially in LA, where you have a good chance of fucking up your car just for fucking being there. jesus i still have nightmares of driving through LA high. that's part of the reason why i quit pot. i refuse to put up with shit anymore. i do what the fuck i wanna do. pot makes me do the opposite. too paranoid and too influenced to think any other way.

5 years ago i was driving 250kms every weekend 3 days sleep deprived and on god knows how many drugs , neva had a problem .

these days if i stay up 24 hours , i cop full on hallucinations, paranoia etc etc can barely back a car out of the driveway .

i try my best to not even drive stoned anymore

yes, I drive while high. I find it relaxing. It's absolute perfection to get high while driving.

There is, however, a line that i will not cross. I will not drive if I am too high, or if I have anyone else in the car.

I don't see how accepting one thing has to mean accepting a completely different substance and it's effects. I don't know anyone who can drive drunk as well as I can drive high. I don't see that as a problem -- I see that as assessing the situation and using a thought process instead of going "well if I can drive high, I can drive drunk just fine!"

yes! at first i was reluctant to, but after some careful practice it's really quite fun. i wouldn't do it if i weren't confident in my competence.

I'm making a specific comparison between two drugs-cannabis and amphetamines. Stimulants increase alertness and reduce reaction time; therefore, I could actually make the argument that it's a good idea to drive on speed. I don't think anyone would be persuaded by that though.

yeah i've drove when i was tweaked out of my mind. i drove better than i normally do. and then i got home for dinner and made myself some tacos, and they were the cleanest more organized tacos i've ever designed, i could work a taco stand on tweak and charge those babies 2 bucks a taco, i'd be in fucking business!!
