which mp3 player to own and why, your take on it

Anyone know of any mp3 players that can be flashed with open source software? I'm thinking something like Rockbox for the earlier generations of iPod. If Apple hadn't tightened up the newer generations I'd buy one straight away...

Basically I want to be able to customise the player, and not be forced to use certain software to load songs on etc. Doesn't have to play protected music. Any suggestions? Enki?
 
I got a Sony-NWZ-S638F a few weeks back.

Clear screen, drag and drop, amazing sound quality, some very interesting sound options and it looks good. Plays videos too.
 
he's saying that some peoples entire library would fit on the 120gb ipod. if this is correct in an individuals case, then that individual would not have to delete any songs off the ipod to make room for new ones.
 
If you don't want the big screen, the Cowon S9 is the diarrhoea. That's my next mp3 player.
 
Well I have this thing in my driveway called a car and then there's this thing you all might have heard of called the internet. Well I've successfully integrated the two. Get read people I'm about to blow your mind! I look on the internet for concerts I like then I get in my car and drive to them. Holy shit I know its hard to imagine if you've never done such a thing but keep the music industry alive by supporting the artists! Plus horny drunk 16 yr old bitches are everywhere!

also, i like to listen to music on the train and the bus. how do you suggest i get in my car and drive to a concert and attend said concert while on a train or a bus?

i would like a multimedia device of some sort like an itouch (since I dont have a smartphone to begin with) but right now music is the most important thing

Okay my 160Gb ipod classic is well and truly dead and I'm looking for a replacement mp3 player. Any new suggestions other than an Apple product since this thread was last updated? I'm looking for something with a reasonable amount of storage space, good value for money, and have no need for a billion extra features or headphones.
 
sony is just coming out with there follow up to whatever they came up with before ?
