Just been reading around and it seems like even tho shrooms are now illegal in Holland, the magic mushroom truffles are still legal. Does anyone know for sure?

Last news 27-2-2009 !! On Stock now!! philosopher's stones a.k.a truffles a.k.a Psilocybe tampanensis!!!
It's official! The old, familiar truffles (the philosopher's stones) will NOT be banned, and the matter which culture lovers can harvest, remain legal. That should be celebrated!Growkits and syringe/mushroom spores also available again. Buy now as long it still is possible!!

I belive it's just the fruiting bodies that are now banned in Holland - however this information is based upon my somewhat hazy memory of something I read about 6 months ago - ergo(t) it's definitely true - probably

Yeah, you can still get truffles. They are sold under another name though ("knollen" ?)

So they really banned these things? What a shame. I was over there this last summer and they where still legal but I never got a chance to try them. Hopefully this weird loophole sticks around so I can trip in the Dam the next time I get to go.

If not, it probably wouldn't be too risky take a few blank blotters with me.

Well, thanks to tourists shrooms are illegal now, so I guess they'll ban truffles when more problems arise.

But for now, they're legal.

Yeah my boss is one of them that likely contributed to that.

He told me "yeah the second time I think I got a bad batch because they were scary and icky feeling". lol

It's always the damn tourists, eh?
Nop, not really, but in this case: yes.

92% of the times the ambulance had to go out because of mushrooms was because of tourists.

Seems pretty clear to me.

People aren't allowed to consume any psychedelic substances, then they go and try mushrooms.

Of course it's the tourists fault; people thought they could just ignorantly consume drugs, hoping for a good high. Alas, this is not how life works.

If only the fruiting bodies are banned they could sell Cubensis mycelium mass grown in liquid culture, couldn't they?

Nah, I know man. I live in a relatively popular tourist city as well, and I understand perfectly. It's just so easy, I guess, when you're in the vacation mentality, and this isn't where you live....

Could they grow mushrooms with big stalks (obviously risky in itself if the law has changed) but then decapitate them and sell the stalks (if it's only the "fruiting" part that's banned! =D)

I have a friend who recently went to Holland and while they are banned, shops that used to sell them still have them "under the counter." He said he was going to buy something weed related when he started chatting with the cashier about mushrooms. The cashier then offered him a large variety that was stored in the backroom.

So it may take a few more years before they actually crack down on the law.

yup, kits as well. can't find the more detailed email but here is one from a Dutch company they send post-ban

i am in amsterdam now and i just bought psilocybe mexicana, psilocybe hawaiiana and psilocybe pajateros. they are NOT illegal, they are fully available under the name truffles

Just wanted to correct this misinformation here, the "stalk" of a mushroom IS part of the fruiting body (so that would be anything above the substrate is fruiting body)

And yeah, laws are funny with truffles like this.
But isnt getting anything around there pretty easy?

That's a shame last time I went I had a great time shrooming. Even if the smart shops close check with the venders selling smoke ware out of their containers.

I'm not aware of any old world species that form sclerotia/truffles. What is this hawaiiana? The thing about truffles is psilocin content can vary quite substantialy even within the same jar. Of course 92% of the people going to the ER on mushrooms were tourists. I'd wager a large majority of the people tripping on mushrooms on a given night in AMS were tourists since the local community probably doesn't consume them quite as regularly due to availability and market saturation. On the other hand to the tourists cheap legal psilocybin has a substantial novelty.

Ask anyone who grows mushrooms for a circle of friends, and they'll tell you once the novelty wears off their friends lose interest for the most part. I assume the same could be said on a larger scale in AMS. The local population doesnt compose a large chunk of the demand simply because there's no novelty in it for them, especially in a city like AMS with a large industry of cannabis tourism.
