since out of the arts section there is no VISUAL or IMAGE based discussion forum (only MUSIC and WRITING,) , i feel this is the only appropriate forum for posting this.

i was asked to do a political poster of my own choice, so i chose the obvious route of anti prohibition.

i am showing it here because i want it spread around and shown to as many people as possible, from cannabis users to non drug users in general. i would be honored if organizations like NORML or UKCIA used it in their documents and websites

the idea comes form 50s propaganda and comic book art as well as those cheesy science fiction double feature picture show posters

i would love for your opinions, feedback, and maybe alterations in what the slogan could be, i could even change the exsisting one if you feel its off point

I think its pretty fuckin' cool, nice job... wondering whats hovering over the buds though? maybe something different with the font would be cool too. maybe you could print a shitload of them and stick around town :)
 
the thing hovering over the buds is flame and smoke, well its ment to be, i feel its the most unsucessfull part of the poster

once its ready, i will try and flypost it all around london, *insert evil chortle here*
 
kracks, there is a section in the gallery to post personal artwork, there is a section for artwork that you want comments and criticism for and also just artwork for show (no comments)

Not saying you posted this in the wrong place, I like the poster (saved to to my computer), just thought you'd like to know about that gallery. Nice work friend.
 
if you could put up a pdf or some sort of file that i could dl and use to print off id be down, but i need a larger size.

Im curious what parts of the poster you did. Like did you just take all the images and compile em in photoshop?

its good to know there is a gallery, i should scope out a bit further and put some different work up there, just as soon as a find it :)
 
yes i hand drew the images and then scanned and coloured in photoshop, a method i only just discovered.
i prefer hand drawing usualy so this was kinda like a experiment to improve my photoshop skills

id love to be able to give you the pdf. its HUGE by the way lol i just dont know how to upload it....is there a website i can do that?

I'm sure there are more but that's what I use and I haven't had a problem.

The only thing that kind of confuses me about it is that it shows the cannabis actually hurting people but then at the bottom you have the seemingly contradictory message of "The most dangerous thing about cannabis is the law". I would keep this poster but get rid of the slogan at the bottom and go for a full on "Reefer madness" slogan. Maybe make a separate poster with the message about the most dangerous thing being the law as it seems like this is your message, one that is not stated enough IMO. Oh and the leafy things above it as well.

You have some mad skill though. I love the style, the fonts, the colors, everything about it. Really great work.

i agree with you about the bottom slogan, was somehting i wanted it to say but your right it doesnt fit in with the pieces mood

maybe somehting like:

CANNABIS: its not the monster you are told it is

cannabis: Its biggest Threat is To the Government

Cannabis is a government trap

Citizens: You Are All Potential Criminals!

CANNABIS: its been around longer than our governments
Stop the mass hysteria


Cannabis does not do as much harm as irrational law makers

Unwinnable Wars

educate not manipulate

God must have made a mistake when he invented cannabis

Cannabis: A VICE NOT A CRIME
 
You could show a police officer arresting an innocent marijuana plant, and write "the most dangerous thing about cannabis is the law", just another idea

that would be a cool poster, or like a police oficer handcuffing a real cannabis plant, while a sniffer dog pisses all over it haha shame poor plant
 
Dude, you have some great skills and that's a great poster i whent to the blog that has your poster in there.. are all that drawings yours ?

yes the idea is to spread it around and use it for the greater good, you could even change the slogan, i all i ask for is a credit and notification on how you used it if its for a campaign or protest or sumthing
and it not to be used to promote any thing against cannabis or pro-prohibition, as im sure it could be manipulated for that purpose any thing of that nature i deem illegal XD
 
How about making it kinda like a book cover for a collection of short stories and at the bottom have it say
Top: ATTACK OF THE KILLER WEED

And other fictional horror stories

XD XD XD thats a fucking rad idea, that really does work

i'm gonna make that and see how it looks,

any suggestions on typography? my friend says newspaper or typrwiter typw might work well

but that definatley seems worth a shot

im might change DEA to Metropolitan Police, or make one with both so it is relevent in both sides of the globe

shot dude, id have to give you a credit on that for sure
