That's impossible to say. Mind you that there's good reason to suspect all of the lesser substituted AAIs as being carcinogens. 073 is less likely than 018, but I suspect many of them will be carcinogens despite any epoxide metabolite formation.

but we have no way of knowing how bad? would you take the risk?

The question is would you? They are your lungs. PLus all the other bad side effects that have been floating around....
what is wrong with pot?

No, we don't. Period!
There was the suspicion that the close analogue JWH-018 could be carcinogenic (just use the search engine for threads that contain "JWH-018" in the title), based on the only official metabolic/toxicological study on this class of compound. This one even dealt with JWH-015 and not 018 itself. Some 'inofficial' data was provided by Mouse99, see this thread (around page 9).
I would think that an occasional smoke won't do much more harm than a cigarette or joint, but as Beenhead said before: It's your lungs! You better don't exaggerate.

Nothing is wrong with the natural herb...but then again there's nothing wrong with amphetamine and folks are taking all kinds of stimulants; or nothing's wrong with morphine, but people consume crazy opioid stuff all the time. The point is: THAT WAS NOT THE QUESTION!

JWH-018 was made illegal together with the prohibition of the SPICE in Germany, valid from 22nd of January this year. Similar legislature in Switzerland and Austria. AFAIK the AAIs are still legal in the rest of the world...

What do you think is the mechanism of oncogenicity if not the epoxide formation?

The JWH-073 is the butyl analog of JWH-018, which is pentyl, right? But JWH-073 is a bit less potent. Assuming they both have the same mechanism of oncogenicity, it seems that JWH-018 would be less likely to cause cancer because a smaller dose would be used. How do you see it?

I would risk it for occasional use, it's almst certainly carcinogenic, but really no worse than cigarettes/spliffs.
Just don't hammer 5 JWH joints a day for evermore and you'll be alright.

Just about everything smoked is carcinogenic as it produces various byproducts. We have no idea what the byproducts are. It's a reasonable statement, but without proof, it's not worth very much.
edit: the AAI analogues that are hydrocarbons are *really* dangerous.

But JWH-073 is a bit less potent
That's putting it mildly as IME 073 is several fold less potent than 018 (although subjectively a nicer effect)

018 is MUCH more potent.
I have experimented with both of these.... went through 2 grams of 073 in about 3 weeks.
I am an asthmatic and I have to say after smoking either one my lungs completely constricted and my air way too... towards the end of the first gram I started taking it orally and noticed no adverse side effects.
My rationalization for smoking 073 or 018 to be not so harmful on the lungs was simply that you only have to smoke a small amount to get off. I found it to be more "crackish" than pot however so I would smoke it more frequently negating my rationalization.
I also found that I would get more chronic headaches when smoking 073 or 018 than just smoking pot.

I think weed has about 4 times more tar in it then tobacco, but considering a normal ciggie smoker would smoke easily more than 4 times what a pot smoker would I dont really think that means shit. I wouldn't really care to much unless you were smoking that shit constantly kinda like a tobacco smoker. A few bongs a day isn't going to cause you too much harm.

^^^ how much more did you need when you took it orally? I'm now smoking it like every .. 45 minutes to "kick up" the buzz back to how I like it, going through it kinda fast hehe
I would usually add 10-20 mgs of 073 to an oral dose. Works quite well

Apples and Oranges.
Unlike tobacco, cannabis contains various other cannabinoids that are anti-tumorigenic. IIRC, Cannabidiol has been shown to be at least as effective as any known drug at reducing cancer of the breast. Assuming that it has similar effects all over the place (many of these induce apoptosis, which is a good thing for tumor cells!), that explains why cannabis smokers don't have higher rates of lung cancer than the general population.

Does anyone find any of these AAI compounds harsh or iritating to the lungs when vaporized??
My lungs seem to be getting more sensitive to smoke any kind. Just dont want to induce an asthmatic episode...

Not, not exactly. I just noticed some distict "taste" of the smoke. But that was of course not what you asked for... Albeit I don't have asthma, I do have some allergies. JWH-018 didn't cause any trouble in this respect. Dunno if this info helps you.
