I constantly have bad thoughts in my mind. I only feel happy when Im on drugs. I got caught 3 times by my parents drunk or with weed. Should i ask my mom for anti-depressants. cuz i wanna stop doing drugs and feeling shitty all the time.

They might be able to help you, and they might not.

Depression, in and of itself, isn't necessarily made manifest because you have a Prozac or Zoloft deficiency. With that said, seeing a doctor can probably help, especially if you're open to therapies that may or may not include medications.

Have you tried shrooms? The drugs you are using aren't helping at all and if you've developed a dependence on them it'll make your situation just that much more complex.

im not addicted to any drugs. i just take them cuz they make me happy with life. and i dont think i should take shrooms, cuz my mom just cought me drunk last night. anyways its hard to find shrooms around here.

maybe you could talk to someone. i know even just talking about everyday stuff with my psych on the phone gets me feeling a little better sometimes. i myself am struggling with bipolar and trying to find things that make me happy..so far it has been being altered.

i would save the anti-depressants as a last resort because a lot of people end up with more problems than they had before taking them.

What kinds of drugs are you taking? Anything euphoria-inducing, or just the pot and alcohol? Either way, cutting back on or eliminating your drug use would be the first step to letting your brain try to reach some sort of baseline, and then you could see if you need the aid of an antidepressant to get there. If you're messing with your brain chemistry before it's fully developed (I'm making the assumption that you're underage, as you are living at home) you're giving yourself a much harder time in ever feeling satisfied at a baseline later in life. Plus, if you're an idiot like me who continues to use drugs while on an antidepressant, you'd be keeping the medication from being able to do its job in stabalizing your wiring.

Alchohol is a depressant.

The euphoria is very short lived. It is quickly replaced with confusion, memory loss, and depression.

Cut that out of the mix and see what effect that has on your outlook.

I personally am not a fan of anti-depressents as a cure all. I think they are best used as a quick band-aid that you apply to get through a rough time. Used properly they help lift you up out of the fuzzy funk.

Depends on whether what you're experiencing is actually depression, and whether the cause is a neurochemical imbalance in the brain. Even if you ARE suffering from clinical depression, the cause could be external, nutritional, or it could be caused by a physical illness like hypothyroidism, anemia, or heavy metal toxicity. In any of those cases, antidepressants would be not only worthless, but possibly harmful. (I recently wrote an experience report on Prozac in Trip Reports you should read...it's called "Quitting Prozac-The Worst Kind of Withdrawal". It's just one person's experience, but you'll find that many others share my thoughts on the subject.)

Maybe antidepressants are exactly what you need, but be advised that they're nearly worthless without some kind of counseling/psychotherapy to help you work out your problems. Medication is a temporary fix, not a permanent solution, and it doesn't work for about 60% of people who try it. If you do feel you need medication, see a psychiatrist, not a physician. Psychiatrists are trained in treating mental illness, general doctors and physicians aren't.

Do you eat fish or take Omega-3 supplements? If you have an Omega-3 deficiency, it can make you depressed and/or anxious.

Also, where is your dad?
