Norepinephrine releaser

We know that Amphetamine primarily releases dopamine and that MDMA primarily releases serotonin (as does fenfluramine). Are there any drugs that do this primarily to norepinephrine (I know that MDMA and Amphetamine do also release norepinephrine, but I am curious as to any drugs that do this primarily to norepinephirne).
 
Methylphenidate, Caffeine, Nicotine, Ephedrine, and cathitones. Also NRI's or partial NRI's like atomoxetine, venlaflaxine, and bupropion. The one that would give you the cleanest noradrenergic effect would be the atomoxetine.

I'm assuming you're not interested in norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors like atomoxetine (Strattera), reboxetine (Edronax) and viloxazine (Vivalan). Well shit, neither am I. I'm not sure why you'd want to become a norepinephrine geyser, as I assume it's not too pleasant to have a rapid surge in norepinephrine, as it can cause peripheral vascular resistance, then ischemia, then limb death, then death death. There's also the drastic hypertension and the ludicrously-heavy intensification of the fight or flight reflex. If any of this floats your boat, then there's nothing better than IV Levophed to get the norepinephrine to gush out up there.
 
Mirtazapine (Antidepressant) is a moderate to strong norepinephrine releaser. The thing is though that you won´t feel much of the effect because it is a very potent H1 Histamin antagonist and therefore very(!) sedating
 
Mirtazepine does it by an dissimilar mechanism to amphetamines release though, it acts as an A2 antagonist, like yohimbine is (inhibiting the normal feedback mechanism that slaps the breaks on when theres too much NA being released)

I found it produced awful akathisia, when I got scripted it, at even a fraction of a tablet (7.5mg I THINK, those orally dissolving orange tablets), and was anxiogenic as hell, worse than dirty street amphetamine even.

Its quite possible some people will feel the effects on NA from mirtazepine, I sure did, I took one dose, and I flushed the remainder down the shitter very soon after, godawful stuff in my experience with it.
 
D-amphetamine is considered to be one of the more potent releasers of NE, with an EC50 of ~7nM, whereas methamphetamine is slightly less potent (~12nM)...
 
Limpet chicken, the side effects you experienced from mirtazapine are rare. The drug is far more likely to just make a patient somnolent and ravenously hungry. At first. After a few weeks the torpor and the munchies go away, and the drug is a pretty effective antidepressant and anxiogenic, especially for those who can't stomach the sexual side effects of most other antidepressants. And holy Christ it makes your dream life almost as important as your waking life.

Rare or not, its certainly something that should be watched for.

Didn't make me tired thats for sure, and it took a gigantic shit from a great height upon whatever appetite I might have had in the first place for badly cooked greasy slop presented as nutrition (I'm not going to insult even macdonalds by calling that stuff 'food')

I do react badly to most drugs like that, amphetamines I hate, but A2 antagonists are utter poison (in fact I'm taking an agonist to decrease hyperstimulation at the moment, best thing I ever tried for it), docs have offered me NARIs but my past experiences with anything even distantly looking like a releaser, makes me want to avoid reuptake inhibitors like the plague.

I am autistic, and the hyperstimulation is part of it, and one common thing in auties and aspies is pharmacological idiosyncratic wierdness (I know a girl who was given awful permanent intestinal problems from venlafaxine), I would think twice about wether any of us should use mirtazepine without extreme care.

I'm another one who didn't respond well to Mirtazapine :| Zero sedation and made me extremely suicidal from day one of taking it.
It's really shit as I've heard so many good things about it from many other people :(
 
I'm not sure what effect you want to reach with a noradrenaline releaser - but if you're looking for an alternative to other uppers - i recommand you to take a closer look at Clomipramine. In my case this substance makes me even more (a lot!) hyperactive than amphetamine!! Another advantage of this stuff is the fact that it helps very good againt anxiety - and in opposite of classical uppers - it increases your appetite very strong!

Just try it! :-)
