was just thinking that whenever I smoke I constantly have a beverage.. mostly water..

I don't get the munchies that bad, but I find that im always drinking something when im blazed..

anyone else find this?

you know its common knowledge smoking causes dry mouth, right?

I think he's saying that he gets the craving for liquids far more than he does for trash / food aka 'munchies'.
I get cotton mouth a bit too, but i'm almost never seen without a beer or similar beverage anyway, when we're in.
But yeah, i'd say i'm the same way. I love my liquids :)

It's not an actual lack or depletion of water that's making you feel thirsty when you're baked -- it's a shutting off of the nerve impulses that control the lubrication of the mucous membranes of your face. Same way that nervous public speakers always have a glass of water by them. The nervousness causes neural changes that cause their faces to dry up. In either cases sipping something helps, but the problem will persist until the drug effects wear off, no matter how well hydrated you are.

excellent info there, tbh i has always been a bit worried about my dry old leathery tongue, as dry as a cats.

& i always have green tea or beer by my side.

Well there you go. Couldn't ask for a more accurate response 8o

Joints.. its true, I purchase far more beverages than those who don't smoke, im certain.

Beer definitely is the cure

Yea green tea is where its at..whenever im smoking.

I cant believe green tea and beer are actually mentioned in the same sentence :( what an insult to green tea.

I usually get a craving for "wet-feeling" sugary foods (blue agave syrup........ mmmmmmmmmm...........), but water is not too appealing. I LOVE tea sober, I do not recall ever going through the trouble of making it on cannabis though.

Seconded.

Good beer is better than good wine, and much better than tea. Don't be hatin' on beer.

that is interesting... i do know the eyes get bloodshot from lack of lubrication as well. either way, lack of lube in the head is definitely not a plus for anyone who plays brass or wind instruments :(

Green tea is one of the healthiest drinks there is, beer is one of the least healthy. Based on these facts alone, green tea is de facto better than beer, it dosen't even matter how they taste.

Guess what hippie, you're wrong, tea is no better than beer simply because as opposed to commonly thought, tea does not hydrate you at all, it is a diuretic and drinking it alone while high will dehydrate you... just like eating snow.

Ethanol is a diuretic as well. And btw YOU'RE wrong, "tea" cannot be a diuretic. True "tea" is a plant, camellia sinensis, and a plant cannot be a diuretic. What you mean to say is that caffeine is a diuretic.

I didn't say anything about hydration, because that's not what makes a drink "healthy" or "good".
It's a fact that green tea is a very healthy drink and beer by comparison is not nearly as healthy.
Potential effects of tea on health
Sorry to further derail this thread folks, but honestly I cant believe I even have to explain this. Tea is better than beer in every way. period.

Obviously you've never had European beers :p

The same nerve that controls the muscles that move your face (except chewing) is the one that tells the glands inside your facial orfices to start or stop secreting lube. This is not the same nerve that the dentist injects into to numb your face, if anyone was wondering.

Alcohol is a far stronger diuretic than caffeine. But when you pee a lot after drinking either one, you're mainly just peeing out the excess water you just took in. But like I said, this doesn't have anything to do with the dryness or lubrication of your face.

The healthiest things to sip on when you're stoned -- or sober -- are green tea, herbal infusions, and plain filtered water. Black coffee is a distant fourth, if your stomach is in good shape.

If all you drink is tea or beer, tea is probably the better choice. If you are choosing between a cup of tea and a glass of beer, you could go either way. Beer is loaded with carbs and antioxidents and all kinds of good stuff from the yeast cultures, especially unfiltered brews. Alcohol thins the blood slightly, which is good for your heart. Tea also has lots of antioxidents and good shit, but without the carbs and alcohol it is more suited to regular consistant consumption.

As to which is better to sip on while enjoying a joint? Beer. Every time.
