BL Film-Making! (Formerly "BL Cinematography")

Learn flash! It's really not that hard, the computer does SO MUCH for you. I am not good at it but I can see it's potential. Just start looking at tutorials and you will pick it up quick.

That's a great animation! You can see how much work went into it. I would never have the patience to get past three seconds.

i cannot wait till my next vid is complete, and not just because of how labour intensive animating with mspaint is, i reckon it'll turn out pretty fuckin sick. i've completed about a minute (of a total of around five) so far. don't ask me how long this has already taken.

this thread is great. i just got a new digi cam that takes excellent vids so i will certainly post something soon. i love film :)

i realised recently that i could use the film editing software (iMovie) to make animation from stuff i make in mspaint!
so tonight i done a couple tests, one of a bubble guy walking (6 frames) and one of a face test mouthing the words "one, two" a few times which i dubbed my voice over and they both turned out pretty good.

i then created a background and foreground on the walking guy and coloured it all in to make this

so much fuckin work for just 7 seconds! i made a simple tune to go with it but the compression at youtube killed it. oh well, no matter. sound wasn't the point.

i wish i knew how to use flash.

Not bad, Lefty. In fact, that's pretty damn impressive for using MS Paint. Very smooth. Seriously though, to create animation using MS Paint you must be one serious masochist. ;)

Something I just threw together after work. Sorry it's so small!!! LOL Last small video, I promise. I just did this one backwards. I threw it all together, exported it, got pissed, thaaaaan figured out how to do it the right way. Last small video. Just pretend you are watching some old 8mm or something. IDK.

California

Wow, cool. I have always liked that song, despite it being the theme song for "The OC" ;). Never heard that particular version though.

That was really relaxing. It captures the mood of Cali quite well, and makes me nostalgic for the times when I have been out on the west coast. It's beautiful out there; not at all surprising that so many people live there.

Your video was paced very nicely, moving along at a relaxed, steady speed; very balanced. You accomplished that well and I like that you didn't even need to resort to any showy transitions or video effects or anything. The footage and editing carried the clip on their own strength.

I also liked how the soundtrack was nicely coordinated with the video footage, I.E. when the song hits a peak as the guy struggling with his kite/parachute finally gets it aloft. It could be a tourism promotional video if you could find some way to make it corny and annoying ;). Maybe a slow motion shot of a family dressed all in white running along the beach holding hands? ;)

Don't you hate how the compression that youtube uses totally destroys the resolution of the videos? That would be my biggest gripe, and I know that there is absolutely nothing you can do about that. Well, maybe you could find somewhere else to host it, I guess. That really irritates me, though. You do all that work and no one can even appreciate any of the subtleties because its so blocky and low resolution. I've gotten the best results (the least loss of resolution) by encoding the video in .wmv format before uploading it to youtube.

Great work. I could see a series of videos following this same theme. Thanks for your contribution, Damo! :)

I love it! Was not expecting that at all. Nice one IP!

Ahahahahahh! That's great lefty!!! :D :D :D Way Cool. Didja learn flash yet?

not yet. i'm determined to finish my mspaint animation first.

thanks, the vid i made yesterday makes me laugh every time i see it.

WHOA cool!!!! That was awesome! Great work!

I LOVED Scarlett's cameo role ;)

thanks hun.

now i'ma steal this thread to f&tv. maybe it'll get more traffic there.

Some of the fast editing was a little too much for me. I felt like if I blinked I would miss something.

Other than that it was great! Awesome special effects dude. What did you use to blank out the mothers face? Pretty cool man pretty cool. Where to now? What did you learn from this video? Would you have done anything differently?
