Happy with your teeth?

I'm pretty self conscious about my teeth. They're really susceptible to acid wear, and they get real sensitive after eating acidic food like sodas, oranges, lemonade, etc.

They're starting to erode and chip...spaces starting to show in between...i brush at least once a day, and i wear a night-guard to prevent tooth grinding.

Are there toothpastes that can restore enamel?

My enamel was corroding when I was drinking too much tea and doing too much drugs.

The dentist said I couldn't get it back. One section was pretty much exposed and sensitive all the time... the rest would get pretty painful.

I cut down on the stuff and also did a lot of visualization and meditation about restoring my teeth. That seemed to help, though I can't prove that.

Currently I use Vicco Tooth Powder instead of toothpaste, as I find it strengthens my gums and makes the pH of my mouth just right. Even after intense coffee days (work), it brings the pH right back down. Be sure to have some handy when you go out, and after eating something sweet or acidic brush your teeth (or gargle with it).

It cleans pretty well and doesn't leave a coating like paste does. Sometimes I do use Weleda's Salt Toothpaste and it has the same effect but is a little more harsh... I stock up when I'm in Europe or the States.

If your home then brush after everytime you eat, even after drinking soft drinks and juices.

my parents spent thousands on my teeth as a child as i pretty much had lots of things wrong from an overbite, to third teeth coming through and extremely misaligned teeth. So cause of that i am pretty cautious about my teeth and try to take good care of them.

you can't restore the enamel once it has gone. The only thing you can do is take care of what you have left.

use toothpaste with fluoride - also take care not to brush too hard on your teeth (and floss... i am definitely one for flossing)

shy away from acidic food and drink as much as possible - as this is not entirely possible, if you have something like a can of cola you can try to neutralise it afterward with something alkaline or chewing sugar free gum - this increases the flow of saliva in the mouth and neutralises some of the acid, making the tooth enamel less susceptible to demineralisation.

eat healthy (minimise in between meal snacking as this generates more acid and bacteria in your mouth - if you snack choose foods that do not break down into sugars) and get regular dental checkups.

After I drink acidic juices and such, (or eat salad with vinaigrettes, etc.) I gargle with about a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in water after my meal before brushing. This neutralizes the acid in my mouth, my tongue, my gums and in between my teeth.

My teeth are quite okay now (I have had lots of work done in the past, braces, retainers, three root canals, wisdom teeth removed, etc etc) and I'm very fastidious about them. Years of drinking coffee and smoking may have done them a bit over ....I may have to get them whitened in the future :P

I'm not sure what happened, but I must say my experience points me in the other direction. My enamel was pretty much thinned out at one point, in a couple of parts my tooth was becoming more "translucent" (haha), and also there were light visible physical "depressions" or surface loss in a couple. Let's just say, that for a month I had to learn how to smile in a different way. Hahaha.

They were restored to normal after awhile. Even my dentist was pretty puzzled about it. He said he has seen it happen over very slow periods of time sometimes, but mine was very quick. Hallelujah!! :!

one of my front teeth is a little brown/yellow since I binged it taking a whipper (fall) while lead climbing on gear. I was about 10 feet above my last placement in the crack I was climbing and was reaching around a little mini-overhang for a hold and my foot popped and off I went for about a 20 foot fall. I whizzed past my gear and somehow smacked my lip (split it) on the carabiner and I guess that did enough trauma to deaden the nerve in the tooth. It went grey/brown/yellowish after that.

As happy as can be. I wish they were whiter but I don't stress about it.

I have really worn down enamel and generally not the best teeth as well. Genetics definitely plays a huge role in it. My dentist advised me to use PRONAMEL toothpaste. I also use ULTRAFLOSS. Flossing all the time is huuuuge. If you've got bad teeth to start with, not flossing will definitely make them go downhill MUCH quicker.

If you've got dry mouth or you're on medication which induces it, you might want to try BIOTENE mouthwash. Fantastic stuff!

Try to use soft toothbrushes---even for non-sensitive teeth, medium bristles can do more harm than good.

No. 1 terrible stuff for teeth is energy drinks. Sugar free or not, they're terrible for your teeth. If you HAVE to drink them, do it through a straw. Just read a study, too, that shows brushing IMMEDIATELY after drinking them is even worse for your teeth. Rinse out really well with water after drinking energy drinks or soda and then wait a bit to brush.

And seriously...wear a mouthguard when you're doing any kind of sport. I've had my tooth chipped skydiving, and I'm really really lucky I've never lost one in any of my cycling accidents or wakeboarding.

Aside from some stains, some crooked, and an overbite, I'm not extremely extremely unhappy with my teeth. I would probably consider braces to straighten out a bit and perhaps some whitening...but it's all ridiculously expensive!!!8o

I inherited super-mega-ultra-teeth from my mom, nothing bad ever happens to them, no cavities, no wisdom teeth, they're always white, always sturdy, etc. =)

I also inherited my dads stomach, so I have to work my ass off to build my abs back, but they gradually fade away when I stop - muscle memory my ass! (=

I am happy with mine. They are yellow-esque and have acidosis damage pretty badly.

It doesn't keep me from smiling at all! A smile says way more than your teeth do!

That being said, seeing girls with yellow teeth isn't a turn off at all, I feel bad for people with deformed teeth, but it wouldn't stop me from kissing them though.

my teeth are pretty white (i got them bleached at the dentist about 5 years ago and they are still ultra white which is great) i have "fangs" and one sticks out a bit more then the other i call it my snaggletooth but it gives me character and i've pretty much learned to love it and just smile my little heart out anyway, because i have a really cute dimple but it doesn't show unless i smile!!

oh oh ohhhhhh i forgot, my rule of thumb that i follow is i brush my teeth in the morning and at night and anytime between when im leaving my houses i usually give them a quick brush, and im ALL about flossing, i floss everyday and now when i miss a day my whole mouth feels off... so if you don't floss i encourage you to floss it takes a few minutes and does you so much justice!

my teeth are extremely sensitive to cold or hot things liquid and not. what is this a sign of?

^^perhaps exposed nerves?

do ya'll suppose that over brushing is bad? is shoot for once to twice per day

I think overbrushing is bad - Twice a day seems plenty. I try not to do more, unless there's some reason (garlic!).

Quite happy with my chompers, for now at least.

all of them are straight and aren't missing ne lol. My tops are beautifully white and shiny, however my bottoms are dull and yellow. Never had braces tho!

they're fairly straight (after almost 4 years of wearing braces, i'd hope so!) with the exception of 1 bottom tooth that was pushed by a giant wisdom tooth (it has since been removed, along with another). i just wish i didn't have to wear this stupid fucking retainer all the time, it's been 6 years! why are implants so expensive? :(

I think i have pretty nice teeth. They are straight and shaped well. They could use another whitening treatment from the cigs, but overall i think they are pretty healthy.

Teeth are a big turn on for me, i like girls with nice teeth for some reason. Not just if they are straight and white, but if they are shaped nice too. Dunno why, but teeth are one of the first things i look at in a potential mate haha.
