The Sacredness of Love: God's Will and Human Acceptance

Throughout history, humanity has sought to understand the nature of love—its divine purpose and the many forms in which it manifests. Yet, many struggle to accept the vast breadth of love’s expression. Love cannot be confined to a single form, culture, or expectation; it is a divine force, existing as it was meant to, for those it was meant for. Love, in all its manifestations, is sacred. It is time to embrace this truth—not with fear or judgment, but with understanding, patience, and trust in God's infinite wisdom.

Love Exists by God’s Will

No power in heaven or on earth exists without God's decree. The Holy Qur'an reminds us of this:

“To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent.” (Qur’an 57:2)

If God has created all things, then love, in its many expressions, is also His creation. The Bible echoes this truth:

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7)

If love comes from God, how can humanity decide which love is permitted and which is not? Love is no accident; it is divine intention. God makes no mistakes.

The Golden Rule: A Universal Principle of Faith

Across religions and spiritual traditions, one fundamental command remains unchanged:

“Treat others as you would like to be treated.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught:

“None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Hadith, Sahih Muslim)

The Torah instructs:

“You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:18)

Hindu scriptures declare:

“This is the essence of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you.” (Mahabharata 5:1517)

And the Buddha taught:

“Just as a mother would protect her only child with her life, even so, let one cultivate boundless love toward all beings.” (Metta Sutta)

If we desire love, acceptance, and understanding, then we must extend the same to others. God did not create people to torment one another over differences. If anything, it is a divine test of our ability to love beyond the boundaries we impose upon ourselves.

Suspending Judgment: Let God Be the Ultimate Judge

There is an old saying: “God judges, not man.” Yet many take it upon themselves to decide what is right and wrong in matters that belong to God alone. The Qur’an explicitly warns against this:

“Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart—about all those [one] will be questioned.” (Qur’an 17:36)

Likewise, Jesus warns:

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce, you will be judged.” (Matthew 7:1-2)

No human being stands in a position to judge another’s heart. That role belongs to God alone. Instead of condemnation, we should embody divine patience, as we ourselves seek mercy for our own shortcomings.

A World Where Love Can Breathe

There is no need to interfere in the love between people who cause no harm. Nor is there any need for love to be used as a weapon to provoke or defy. The existence of love should not be an attack on those who do not understand it, just as misunderstanding should not be an excuse for persecution.

The image of two men in a loving embrace—a Black African man and a White European man—challenges deep-seated biases. It forces the world to confront an undeniable truth: love is not confined by race, gender, or culture. Love unites; it does not divide.

Instead of reacting with anger or fear, let this be an invitation to reflect. If love exists, it is because God has allowed it to exist. What God permits, no human should seek to destroy.

United Under the Banner of Love

True believers of any faith should not seek to harm, oppress, or demean others. To do so is to act in opposition to the very nature of the Divine. The path forward is one of patience, understanding, and respect.

If God is Love, then all who truly follow Him must carry that Love into the world.

Let us stand together, not in division, but in unity.
Let us embrace, not out of defiance, but out of sincerity.
Let us love, not because the world demands it, but because God has ordained it.

Love is sacred.
And it belongs to all.

Well said.

1 John 4:8
Those who do not love do not know God, because God is love.

1 Samuel 16:7
But YHWH said to Samuel, do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For YHWH sees not as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but YHWH looks at the heart.

One missing but very important aspect to this: we are made in God's image, therefore we are love.

You can't be separate from your fundamental nature.

Right now this is love typing on a keyboard. Next is love eating a sandwich. Or love going to war. Or love laughing.

Love is the bedrock. It has no qualifications. It is true nature. You cannot be anything other than it.

Yes that post is love due to you reaching down into the wellspring of your being and experience to help others understand. Every time a person lends an ear it is an act of love. Presence is an act of love. Every treat we give a dog is an act of love. A father or mother working to maintain a home for a family is an act of love. Every good intention is an act of love. If we look close enough we can see these acts all day long. We are so use to it we bury the love that we see.

Then there is the withholding of love and we call that hate. But is similar to light being blocked and we call it darkness. (darkness being just light that is blocked) All that exists is love and light or the absence of love and light we call hate and darkness.

There's a difference between the love that you are and the mind-body-ego that thinks it is the source of love and has the power to withhold it.

Existence-consciousness-bliss (Satchitananda) is not conditional. It does not withhold. It doesn't do anything but be love.

It's okay if you don't get it. There's no requirement to.

Well said as I can only speak about the lowly human love and withholding. We see that all day. I do think at times a lot of us reach Satchitananda but then the moment falls back into the lower (chakras?) But I believe I have reached Satchitananda and see it is more than a constant. It just is.

I will spend my life trying to get it. ;) I think that these posts help. It get deep.
