US Politics the 2025 trump presidency thread

^ and your point?

a picture of hitler waving and a picture of hitler pointing. in neither is he doing the 'nazi' salute. i think those pics make my point better than they make the point you think you're making...

and the walz video is weaksauce. clearly a wave. his hand is almost completely perpendicular to the ground:

These people are fucking cooked dude.

These are not even close to the Nazi salute.

It’s so frustrating to hear them lie about it; I wish they would just go full Nazi - that would be less frustrating for me.

indeed. the country has problems. we're talking about people's lives and livelihoods. serious problems need people who are serious about solving problems.

you can fucking hate joe biden with a passion but he left the white house with some historic gains.

according to the bureau of labor statistics, under his administration, the economy added jobs every month for 4 straight years (tied the second-longest period of employment expansion on record).

when he took office, trump handed him an unemployment rate of 6.8%. when he left office the rate was at a 54-year low of 3.4%.

real gdp growth and gdp per capita were up.

and sure, inflation was up. trump promised to fix that on day 1 and, surprise surprise, nothing happened.

my point is that trolling is probably hilarious to a bunch of meme-obsessed, adolescent-level adults.

but americans are hurting and musk and trump's performative b.s. isn't going to fix it.

if he was such a hugely popular election winner, ask yourself why he's currently the least popular president in 70 years.

Magats don’t care if they starve and die of minor medical conditions untreated.

All they care about is their fantasy for blood and genocide to kill or enslave every non white or non Christian person.

We need to stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. These are deeply evil people that want blacks and atheists eradicated in concentration camps. They might not utter those words; but praise anyone that does

We have official data on this from a few years ago and he WAS 30.1 BMI but based on pics he looks like he has slimmed down since. I assume we’ll get new data soon. He’s 6’3”.
I worked for this man in the 1980s , and he does not pay his bills ( cost me $80,000) I was 25 and Was so so proud to we working for TRUMP. I was told be Careful he does not pay his bills (Young and dumb) I did not listen, and at a closing table all the money was funded, I had Signed contract, Trump you did not do enough only giving you Half. World class Fucking loser and the US deserves EVERYTHING thing coming.
Most of his voters will be very hurt, none of his friends, and When it all goes to Shit he will slime away again and blame Obama!!!

Oh, he’s definitely fat, that was never disputed. If you ever actually met him, was he the same height as you? Or do you think he was an inch shorter? Sorry about that tremendous loss, but I can’t say I’m surprised. He’s not what I would call a successful businessman. All politicians play the blame game.

I don’t think the US deserves it though - or certainly not everyone. I don’t believe any of the presidents in quite some time have been elected, if they ever were. Or if they were, they’re still puppets for the same power that controls both parties. Either way, it’s the traditional divide and conquer strategy, with the illusion of choice.

The US deserves massive suffering. Not for electing Trump, for allowing this corruption to exist for decades without standing up for themselves using force. It has been a progressive march towards austerity since the mid 2000s and it get worse by the year

Amaerican still have allegiance towards their leaders, be it Obama and his clan or be it Trump. These people are all filth that have fucked the ppl at every turn. We are profoundly stupid and easily distracted while they pillage our country.

We have the 2A for this exact reason. We are too much of cowards to excercise it. We never will no matter how bad it gets. If anything we will turn the weapons on our neighbors, those struggling like us; because that is who we blame. We don’t see who the real enemy is; instead we worship them while they rape us

Americans are selfish, greedy. Hateful, lack compassion, lack empathy, most have never suffered. They deserve to suffer.

It’s been too easy here and it has produced generations of garbage. We need a reality check. It’s like when you Almost die in a car accident or from cancer and you gain this new gratitude - America doesn’t have that and it needs it

Something came to light in the last few hours. Donald Trump has confabulated the concept of a trade surplus with the consept of the US subsidising that nation.

An economist or indeed any rational person would simply ask how it is that another nation can provide a product or service and export it to the US at a lower price than a US supplier is able to provide the same product or service.

Because there are a lot of factors. A nation with easily accessible minerals, low labour costs, robust infrastructure and/or more investment in the technology to provide goods and services is able to do so at a lower cost.

If the theory is to create jobs in the US, the problem is that there has been no investment in any of the above. What in fact he is doing is allowing less efficient US providers to compete. But that doesn't mean that they can do so at the lower price.

So inflation is a certainty. Because there is still no reason to invest as costs can be passed on to the consumer. US providers can afford to be inefficient. That other nations will retaliate with their own tarriffs will make US exports uncompetitive.

Coming out of Covid, we were on the knife edge of a recession. Actually, just before Covid we were dancing with a recession Remember the bond yield inversion?
Under Biden, every single economic number besides inflation remained robust and we did not have a recession. Preventing a recession without causing inflation is a difficult dance. We ended up with the inflation, as did the entire rest of the world. We pulled out before the rest of the world

That's why the Dems kept saying the economy was good. It actually was besides inflation, but the Repugs were beating up the inflation, and the inflation did suck. So, the Dems were dumb to not own it and at least announce robust measures to end it. It's that old thing Dems always say, and they actually said it numerous times... "Voters are smart. They'll see what we've actually done and vote accordingly." NO THEY'RE NOT AND NO THEY WON'T.

A huge amount of voters don't pay attention at all until near the election and then, since they feel so powerless they just "vote the bums out" if they have a feeling of dissatisfaction. Inflation had been so tough that the Repugs were able to keep harping on it two years after it went down since prices were still high. Trump, being the carny he is made the empty promise to reduce prices repeatedly, "on day one", "immediately", "fast".

I wish some of these kids could live through an actual recession or two. I'm a blue collar worker who survived Reagan's recession (destroying manufacturing in America) and Bush's recession as well. The pain is quite a bit worse.
with the illusion of choice.
I keep hearing that "illusion of choice" thing on here.
Thing is, if you have two "illusions of choice", and one lies to you all the time, repeatedly, every word, and doesn't even hide favoring the wealthy and disdaining the peasants.
While the other is corrupt and dishonest (maybe), but at least pays lip service to taking care of the middle class and you do see some middling things they do for you.
Wouldn't it make sense to try to vote for the lesser of evils to at least slow the decline into feudalism while you are working on the revolution?

I mean, total revolution might be the answer, I dunno. But, if your not working on that somehow then not at least trying to pick the best choice in that illusion just doesn't make sense. Trump, for all his talk, obviously favors the oligarchy.

Voting for a crash and burn is not working on the revolution

It's certainly the case that almost every other nation on earth compared the effects of COVID upon their own economies and then compared them to the US economy that was performing unquely well. I'm still not entirely certain what the US did differently, but it largely worked.

Isolationism is clearly Donald Trump's vision for the US. But retaliatory trade tarriffs are certain to be inflationary. It's still unclear if the theory that those lost from government employment will simply take the jobs of illegal immagrants. To the best of my knowledge illegal immagrants take less-than-minimum-wage jobs, so production of some products will go up. Combined, the effect will be inflationary. Which is perfect for the wealthy.

well, the cringe meter hit 100 today when i watched trump and jd vance try to lecture zelensky about "respect" in the oval office, while parroting russian propaganda sound bites.

they don't know the meaning of the word respect.

From Rolling Stone:

As expected, the Russian government seemed thrilled over the public spat between Trump and Zelensky.

“The insolent pig finally got a proper slap down in the Oval Office. And [Donald Trump] is right: The Kiev regime is ‘gambling with WWIII’” wrote Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that he had determined that “President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.”

“He can come back when he is ready for Peace,” he added.

So much for Trump’s frequent brag that he’d be able to solve the war in “24 hours.”

Kaja Kallas, the vice president of the European Commission posted on X that the continent needs to move on from a presumption of U.S. leadership on democracy. “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge,” she wrote.

Just read an article where most of the Repug congressmen who previously supported Ukraine kissed the ring and trashed Zelensky.

Maybe that's why they call them "red" states.

Years ago, during Trump's first term, I entered "Путин трахает свою мать" into a Facebook post. That translates to "Putin fucks his mother".
I got a three day suspension.
Still not sure if someone took the time to translate that, or if they could already read it.

IMNSHO, Russia has a lot to do with all this. All this.
