Hi everyone,
I live in Italy and have been following you for many years, but I've never registered because of my poor English. Now, with artificial intelligence translating pretty well, I hope my Italian will finally be enough.
I was addicted to heroin and cocaine, then I switched to methadone which literally saved me.
Unfortunately, due to a bad chronic disease that affects the nerves, I started using opioid painkillers and everything changed.
I always try to stay afloat but it's not easy, even though I've never touched illegal substances again.
So I'm glad to introduce myself and hopefully get to confront someone, even if it's just virtually.

Hey there, and I can relate.

Currently on methadone.

Sorry to hear about the other issues that flaired up. Has that now made you stop methadone and started using other opioid/opiate based painkiller.

But welcome. Friend

Hi there,
I've been taking methadone since 1992. I've managed to reduce my dose significantly over the years, and I'm currently on 10 mg. However, since 2015, I've been diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and have been prescribed various medications to manage the pain (first tramadol, then oxycodone, Jurnista, and now fentanyl patches 75mg). I've also been taking adjuvants like rivotril, laroxyl, and lyrica.
Things were manageable until I started abusing the medication by putting it in my mouth, as the transdermal patches were ineffective for me. This led me to gradually increase my doses, especially at night. Now, I'm trying my best to taper off, but it's incredibly difficult as withdrawal symptoms start within a few hours. I should increase my methadone dose significantly, but the center where I get it thinks everything is fine since I'm already on pain management, so they won't increase my methadone dose.
I'm trying to manage this situation, but it's extremely tough. I need to change my medication (fentanyl) urgently, but it's not easy.
Thanks for your interest.

Sorry bud do you my bd explaining or giving a rundown on your current meds use prescribed and not prescribed.

So I and us can have a better understanding where you at and what the best advise or approach to take in this situation.

Hi,
All medications are prescribed, nothing is self-administered.
I take 10mg of methadone, divided into 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night.
Lyrica 75mg x3, Laroxyl 5 drops (amitriptyline), rivotril 10 drops.
The problem is the Durogesic patch, which I divide into three parts to use for three days.
I remove the ink with alcohol and divide it. Then I divide the three pieces into smaller pieces. I take the largest piece (the biggest part) before going to sleep.
Before this therapy, I used to take Durogesic 50mg and Oxycontin 40mg (always before going to sleep), and always the adjuvants.
Now I don't know the pharmacokinetics of Durogesic when taken orally, how many mg I'm taking. I see that after 1 or 2 hour in my mouth it has taken effect, and I remove it.
Thank you very much

Keep it up! You'll get off those super strong opiates with a gradual, clinical taper. Benvenuto!
