2024 US Presidential Election

"Military officials said that the cemetery worker feared that pursuing the matter with the authorities at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Virginia, which has jurisdiction over the cemetery, could subject her to retaliation from Trump supporters. Mr. Cheung said in a statement on Wednesday that “that is ridiculous and sounds like someone who has Trump Derangement Syndrome.”"

Trump Derangement Syndrome has ironically come to define conservative's own cognitive dissonance.

It's so pathetic Trump would pull this stunt after previously refusing to visit veteran graves and then calling them "losers". Trump is also one of the very few presidents who never served in the military.

I don't understand how anyone can respect Trump at this point.

^ when trump was running in 2016, and then elected, if i simply asked a question or challenged something he said or did, i was accused (here) of trump derangement syndrome. it's the easiest way to deflect and not argue an issue on its merits.

it's not just my right to hold elected officials to account, it's my responsibility as a citizen. blowing that off as tds is the weakest of weak sauce. but here we are.

it's is interesting to note that trump did have some pretty ardent supporters in this forum a while ago but i don't really see it now. perhaps, maga aside, the tide is turning.

I left in the "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as a bit of a verification. If someone says, "But, it's the New York Times saying that military officials cited she was fearful of her safety.", then I could point out that Trump's campaign had responded to it... so they must have actually said that for it to be responded to.

But yeah, I like that. With this sickening travesty of patriotism and honor, "Trump Derangement Syndrome" has taken on a new and self referential meaning for Trump and his campaign.

Don't know why I did not immediately realize that she would be fearful of her safety. Fearful of death threats and the repercussions for her and her loved ones. I should have. This sucks. This sucks large, dessicated, donkey ding dongs.

I find my self asking that question again:

confused real life GIF

jesus christ - and millions are still gonna vote for this guy, wow

"holding a bitcoin" lmfao

man, the trump campaign just seems in utter disarray right now.

from yesterday: Trump says insurance or government should pay for IVF

"Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said that in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments will be paid for by insurance companies or the government if he returns to the White House.

“I was always for IVF. Right from the beginning, as soon as we heard about it," he told NBC News on Thursday.

The new campaign pledge comes after his Democratic rival, Vice-President Kamala Harris, and other members of her party have alleged that Republican-led abortion restrictions in some states could further threaten access to fertility treatments.
"

government mandates on insurance companies? or the govt. just straight paying for it? this sure does sound an awful lot like nasty old socialism!

i just did a back of a napkin calculation...

average cost of an ivf cycle is about $20,000

average number of cycles required for live birth is 6.

there were 90,000 ivf births in the u.s. in 2022.

where is this $11.3 billion coming from donald?

i'll take "political pandering that hasn't been thought through at all" for 800 alex.

Super obvious. Their entire campaign is phony and was based on Biden being old. Biden stepping down was a forced checkmate in 8 moves on the chess board by the democrats. Best decision they ever made as a party... and went against all tradition in US politics.

You can't sacrifice your king in chess, but that move was a queen sacrifice for the win.

I would be utterly shocked if dems lose this election... Trump's campaign failure is a culmination of failures from the start.

The reds rode that wave hard, and now it's rolling back into the nothingness of the ocean.

Probably from the money we will generate from increased drilling?

Btw, Trump is now the oldest person to ever be nominated for president. He's older than Biden was 4 years ago.

Backfire.
So should a person be judged by their age or their ability to do the work? Kamala Harris swore up and down that Joe was on top and ahead of the duties of president right up to the day he dropped out. Yet many others saw that he wasn't . Was she mistaken or lying? I think that is a much larger "backfire" than Trumps age, and I won't even vote for him.

So everyone should everyone vote "not Trump" and Democrats are "good with that"?

Not Trump ! Not Trump ! Not Trump !

Not a very strong campaign if you ask me and I am a lifetime Democrat... But what do I know, right ;)

the latter.

i can't speak for quasimoto but i read his message as pointing out the republican hypocrisy of constantly harping on about biden's age and decline while conveniently ignoring trump's age and decline.

Bernie is older than both of them and he's still sharp as a tack

indeed.

Absolutely, particularly when it comes to arguably the greatest seat of power in the entire world.

Yeah, I'm ableist as fuck..... when it comes to my own government....

Kamala Harris swore up and down that Joe was on top and ahead of the duties of president right up to the day he dropped out. Yet many others saw that he wasn't . Was she mistaken or lying?
Typical political sycophantism. Are we going to ignore that JD Vance said he hated Trump?

They all do it. They all backstab or suck each other's dicks for votes or favor or publicity (often simultaneously).... been going on for thousands of years....

So everyone should everyone vote "not Trump" and Democrats are "good with that"?

Yeah. I'm pretty sure this country is at that point after 10 years of stupid bullshit mockery of our political system and presidency.

I would vote for the Hamburgler from McDonalds before either Trump or Biden. I dislike Harris, but much less than the former candidates.

Not a very strong campaign if you ask me and I am a lifetime Democrat... But what do I know, right ;)

What strength does the Trump campaign have? Lies about the border after the Republicans strategically killed their own border bill? Lol.

Republican playbook is to continually make the nation worse while there is a democrat president, because it helps them get re-elected. I'm fucking sick of it.

1000 reasons to vote "Not Trump"

Any reason to vote Kamala Harris ?

Policy ?

Record in Office?

Give us something, anything ....

5 weeks from Joe's announcement and we're still waiting for Kamala to show any signs she can be an actual "Leader" not a bureaucrat that reads directly from a teleprompter without resorting to word salad would be a BIG step in the right direction.
