A NEW Stanford Pain Medicine study is looking for adults across the United States who have chronic pain and are:
  • Taking daily prescription opioids,
  • Experiencing challenges taking opioid medications as prescribed or have opioid use disorder (OUD).
Should you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete an online, self-paced video program that asks questions about your pain, medications, how you are feeling and doing, and how well your medications are working for you. You will NOT be required to attend any medical office visits or make any medication changes. This study does not involve seeing any doctors, receiving any medical care, or involvement in your medical records; it exists independently, completely outside the medical setting.

What it involves:
  • Complete a self-paced, 90-minute online treatment for pain.
  • Answer 7 short online questionnaires and 3 brief telephone calls only to confirm your medications.
  • Receive an Amazon gift card after each completed survey; study completers will earn $170.
What is NOT required:
  • In-person visits
  • Changes in pain medications or pain treatments
  • Communication with your doctors
  • Access to your medical record
Our goal is to help people have less pain, provide more tools to better manage stress and pain, and deliver a roadmap for relief so less pain medication is needed.

This study has been approved by the Stanford Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
