Been really interested in Butorphanol after hearing it's a trippy opioid because of its kappa agonism. Always enjoyed salvia but because of the general dysphoria I only do it so much.

What's the actual science of if humans should be taking this stuff? And for anyone that has tried it, is it really worth buying, like if I just popped some codeine and smoked salvia, would that be a different sort of experience? (obviously talking about sub-breakthrough doses, I don't expect the Butorphanol to morph me into a chair or something.)

I've never heard of that one. Is there any other name for it?
It used to be sold as Stadol, and Wikipedia says it’s still used as a generic drug in the US, sold as Moradol and Beforal, but can only find one source for this.

I hadn’t realised it gets prescribed to humans. Where I live it’s only used by vets for dogs cats and horses.

It's a mixed agonist-antagonist, like buprenorphine but works on the kappa opioid receptors too.
So if you're dependent on full mu opioid receptor agonists like morphine, methadone, fentanyl, oxycodone etc it'll throw you in to withdrawal if you have it not long after one of them.

I've used it extensively (I don't know if it's a good thing, but I have used a massive variety of drugs). I was a vet tech years ago and had alot of access to it, and I even used to drive down to mexico to buy big bottles of it. It is sold OTC in Mexico in any of the larger veterinary pharmacies.

I used to IV it. I liked it. It is definitely not as trippy as salvia, but it has a weird vibe to it. Makes lights appear darker, sort of reminds me the psychedelic DPT in the sense that there is a creepy/eerie vibe to it, but at the same time there is something fun/interesting to the eerieness. I did not enjoy salvia, but I enjoyed this stuff.

But so long as you aren't currently dependent on opioids (because, like buprenorphine, it will cause precipitated withdrawal), it's not bad. It definitely is recreational, especially when IV'd (again, I've always had vials, so I've only had it intravenously). It has a bit of a rush when injected, and absolutely feels like an opioid. It does feel weird, but it isn't nearly as trippy as salvia, and had some typical opioid effects (like warmth, etc). You don't have full on hallucinations like with salvia, its mostly mild visual distrubances, some dissociation and an unusual headspace. I wouldn't call it dysphoric, but moreso bizarre. I remember being on it and walking through a supermarket and the lights seemed very dim, it was bizarre (it felt like I was in movie). The streets were dim and and had a weird glow to them. But aside from the weird KOR agonism mediated effects, it absolutely felt like an opioid, and produces typical opioid effects.

Also, butorphanol is much stronger than codeine (at least, when IV'd).

See that just sounds really fun to me. And I’m not dependent on any opioid currently so precipitated withdrawal won’t be an issue.

I can only get it in IV vials as well, but I’ve never IV’d anything before. Any alternative way to take it that you think will be effective? Can I spray the liquid in my nose or smth?

I had a vial and shot this stuff once while a heroin addict. I got all sweaty and dizzy and needed a regular opiate after it. Never had it not addicted to an opiate so don't know. Nice to see negrogesic detail some effects after exploring.

For the record I love Salvia. But did not see that with this but I think it threw me into a strange withdrawal. Bad times, vial dumped. I was looking for a regular opiate but was aware it was sort of opposite.

Yes, I'd put it into empty nasal spray bottles.

I have no clue how intranasal butorphanol compares. The best part about it was the rush, and of course IV bioavailability is extremely high, so not sure how it compares intranasally.

Should still produce the weird effects I described, but the doses must be higher. I would inject 20-30mg at a time, in large syringes, but it was also quite active at low doses IV (like 8mg).

It comes in 10ml and 50ml vials. It is used daily in veterinary medicine, so we use to run through them fast (faster when I was around 🤣).

I live like 4 hours from mexico so I use to load up on the 50ml bottles of butorphanol (they had brandname Torbugesic) , along with 10ml vials of ketamine, and stuff them in my air conditioning vents.

If you are currently using opioids you cannot use butorphanol, but if you aren't dependent then you're good to go.

Let us know what you think, its been well over a decade since I used it but I remember it clearly.

Is this where your handle comes from?
