Think of it... All are communications go through satellites. So do you think an advanced civilization could have access to our internet ? What are your thoughts on this ?
I’m very interested in this kind of topic. I think personally that they have complete control of the reality of their choosing. I even think ‘they’ could possibly be ‘us’ from the future. It’s like they influence us slightly and always evolve with us. The more advanced we get, the more advanced they get. Like we are linked. I think that if they disappear completely… we are in trouble. Just a thoughtI think a better question would be, why would they even want to access our internet? Any ETs capable of interstellar travel have already mastered the physical universe and are probably thousands or millions of years older than us. Anything relevant they want to know about our planet, they can just find out through their own investigations.
Unless there are alien xenosociologists in their society who want to study the human internet for some reason?
If there are aliens here at all, then it means traveling through interstellar space is somehow possible according to the laws of physics, the fermi paradox is answered, and life is everywhere. Which means humans would not hold much fascination.
Not exactly how I (like to) see it, but an inspiring suggestion that's already got my mind triggered. Even if another context than internet.I’m very interested in this kind of topic. No, they aren't.Humans are already developing quantum communication
I take your general point but I don't think aliens being able to observe, decode, and ultimately comprehend digital data means they have to be "human like", there are some general principles mandated by the laws of physics and digital methods of conveying information are pretty much a requirement for a technological society to advance to the point that they could observe the Earth. Once having reached that point, it would be trivially simple to begin to study the general behaviours of a bunch of monkeys going obliviously about their business and broadcasting it online. IMO it's arrogant to assume that humans are so special and unique that aliens would struggle to understand us, given sufficient time to study us, and having access to the internet would massively accelerate that process given the volume of language, video and audio data recorded by humans (or by systems developed by humans). If the internet was the ONLY thing they looked at they'd surely get a very skewed picture but given that there are pages on the internet where humans trade memes about how the Earth is flat, even if they had a psychology so different from our own that their own iteration of some kind of global communication never turned into the ocean of bullshit that our own did, given that they must possess some kind of intelligence in order to be seeing all this stuff in the first place, they'd pretty quickly twig that something was off and humans just are a weird bunch, and go on with their research, just like we do when studying frogs or lemmings maybe that occasionally throw themselves off cliffs, just because "lower" species think in different ways and have different intrinsic motivations (although when comparing 2 technologically capable species, I think some similarities can be assumed) doesn't mean that at first glance it would all be random nonsense. It's an arrogant thing to assume aliens have to be human like.
I should rephrase, they are working on quantum encryption for military and other communications. No, they aren't.
Ah, I see. I felt the need to comment because usually when people mention "quantum communication" in this context they're thinking faster-than-light-communication using quantum entanglement, which is not possible - as far as we can tell, and if it was possible would open up the same time travel acausal universe can of worms as all other "true" FTL scifi concepts, whether you're moving spaceships or just information.I should rephrase, they are working on quantum encryption for military and other communications.

Face it your homesick; and it don't seem like the mother ship is coming back to rescue you, anytime soon. Not exactly how I (like to) see it, but an inspiring suggestion that's already got my mind triggered. Even if another context than internet.
For science, and for practical defense. Just as our scientists observe and monitor other animals and ecosystems. The real question is why would a more intelligent species want associate with a planet full of hairless apes that are prone to irrational behavior and violence ?
Stop picking on the Irish. As someone who is part mick, I am sort of offended, by being called an ape.The real question is why would a more intelligent species want associate with a planet full of hairless apes that are prone to irrational behavior and violence ?
