Trump shot

I don't know how accurate those weapons are at that distance, but how the fuck did he miss that fat cunt?

The photo of him fist pumping the air seems a little too good to be true if it wasn't staged. Its got everything - a defiant and bleeding Trump, the stars and stripes in the backgound, a bunch of spooks surrounding him, he's going to get some mileage out of this that's for sure...

But, 130 yards out from an unsecured elevated position is an absolute joke. What security perimeter?

A ladder, a guy crawling on the roof with a rifle, people pointing and alerting, countersnipers holding their fire till he gets his shots off ... WTF?

I think Biden's cognitive performance just crawled into the backseat of discussion.

It must take an incredible amount of composure or something else (like his massive ego that could only be appeased by him becoming president again) driving him to to remember to continue "work the crowd" even under such circumstances.

Most normal people would understandably have left the stage cowering in fear under the cover of multiple body guards.

But Trump is definately not normal.

I'm not saying it was a staged set up, but the man has some kind of incredible opportunist streak to turn situations to his advantage.

I don't even think that he calculates these things, it's all just instinctive imo.

Trump has his devoted base, but it is hardly enough to elect him. There is also a large group who will vote for whatever Republican is running because they are devoted to one or more of the tenets. A fair contingent of those registered Republicans might be very happy if Trump were not in the race. So, the shooter could easily have been a registered, devout, died in the wool, Republican. I certainly wouldn't pick that hill to die on if I was a Trumper.

One bystander was killed two others were critically injured. We'll have to see if they can recreate the trajectories using forensics.

No thanks. Besides, political violence is not the way. We need stability and we need tolerance of both sides of the aisle. Liberals need Conservatives and vice versa. I mean, we don't know that he wasn't motivated by some mental illness delusional-type shit, like that one cat in the 1980s who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan. He wasn't politically motivated. He was using an AR-15 rifle, chambered in .223 Remington, propelling a 55-grain bullet, I think. If he had used something larger and heavier like a .303 it might not have been as prone to wind deflection. And he only had a short window to take his shot. Secret Service wasted no time in their counter-sniper measures.

No, he only had moments with which to fire. Just as Secret Service spotted him and trained their scopes on him, he managed to quickly squeeze out a few rounds before going splatsville on the roof, the last thing that went through his head was… the counter-sniper's bullet.

EXACTLY! Ok but to be fair, I can't really blame him for being afraid to pull a stunt like that. I know I wouldn't. Fuck that shit. This wasn't staged.Two people died, Trump was tagged, and another couple people were put in critical condition… gunman's dead… this is not "staged". Donald is lucky to be alive right now, no bullshit; and he knows it. And as much as I dislike the guy for polarizing the U.S. so sharply, I have to hand it to him: he's talented at social media, and in as flash of brilliance, he took that AP photo op and got the best images his campaign could have ever hoped for, what with the American flag draped behind him, and it's probably the toughest he's ever looked. I think that's going to resonate with people as strong right now while Biden's slip into dementia / signs of deteriorating mental health make him look comparatively weak. If the Democrats hope to win this next election, Biden should step down.

That was my line of thought too. He has made a farce of the Republican party and desecrated the honor of the office of the presidency and not abided by his oath to serve ALL American people (not just his sycophants). Imo he is unfit to hold office.

A lot of the intelligence community in the US hate his guts too - remember when he showed satellite imagery on TV that revealed a US TS satellite? It also exposed how advanced the tech is...

The waters are super muddy on this one. All I'll say is that it's super fishy. I guess we'll get drip fed more info as days go by.

If that's the case, then I still wonder what happened to that bullet? I don't know about weapons at all, but is a human ear capable of deflecting a bullet away from the sea of people behind him?


Edit: perhaps it is. All I know is that he's seemingly one lucky, lucky, bastard.

I've already see one message from Trump saying it was God's will that he survived.

It wasn't composure, that was Trump's stupendously large ego preventing him from realizing how close he just came to dying, then to get up and actively deter the secret service several times from doing their job and saving your life just to get a good political chants in and to ask to get your shoes before you leave?. He has a good nose for reality TV... but the sheer size of arrogance in that moment was absolutely stunning.

Not making excuses for Trump, but we are all humans...
I have been in close quarters firefights and didn't even think of the consequences of the events for some time afterwards. The adrenaline is through the roof at times like that and your sense of survival automatically takes over; when you look back at the situation it hits you what was really at stake and how close to death you were.
