when our government is funding it, and sending weapons for it, maybe... but that wasn't my point.

people DO go to gaza to help the palestinians... and they get bombed, sniped, drone struck, etc.

and wanting a government to stop its war crimes doesn't mean we want to go get murdered by a terrorist regime.

and the people that say that overused idea (gO THerE blah blah blah) KNOW that ppl get murdered there, so are they saying they want protestors to die?

i also think north korea and china treat their citizens unfairly. it would be stupid for ppl to say "well then go to china or north korea if you hate their governments so much"... completely stupid.

whatever you want to call it, zionism or not, the counter protesters are PRO WAR CRIMES AND ETHNIC CLEANSING... categorically, because the protests are ANTI WAR CRIMES AND ETHNIC CLEANSING.

Protesting in a situation like this only accomplishes two things:

1) It polarizes issues so that there is less chance of a real solution.
2) it makes the protestors feel good about themselves because only they are right. They get to point the finger of shame at others and feel superior.

Now on the other hand, actually doing something means that they actually have to get involved and put their ass on the line to get the results they say they want. Naw, that's too much actual work and effort !

The protests and sit-ins of the civil rights movement were polarizing too, people also called them diaruptive. The public opinion at the time was not aligned with the protesters. Should they not have done that? What should they have done instead if not protesting?

Protests themselves did very little to change things. The "Freedom Riders" however put their asses on the line. They rode busses down south and help black people of voting age register and vote causing the real change. Booker T Washington did not get a sign and protest. Instead he started a school for black people to gain skills. The list goes on and on ...

The protests and sit ins were not nearly as effective as the story painted by the media and "modern schools". The real progress was made by those individuals who rolled up their sleeves and took up the task at hand, not protestors.

The task at hand was anything that we as individuals could do to help. For concrete example I spent four years tutoring grammar school children in Math and English after school in High School. A priest from our High School moderated the group and provided materials and transportation to an inner city grammar school, and coordinated the work. 99% of my students were black. Others I knew hired black students for summer jobs so they could save up money to go to college. People were doing all kinds of things where they could and asked for nothing in return.
Many many individuals I knew were gathering up food and clothes for distribution to the poorer members of society, black white, or whatever.

Charitable work was a lot more common back then, people did not expect "the government" to fix all of societies problems. We rolled up our sleeves and got busy.

I sincerely feel sorry for you if you don't understand how education frees individuals.

It didn't lead to legislation. You cannot legislate morality. Civil Rights Legislation didn't free anyone.

dude, ISRAEL even signed that fucking thing the year they became a country.

the idea that "no one buys it" is a really bad argument, considering a BIG chunk of the world decided to codify genocide shortly after the word was coined. and shortly after the nazis did the most infamous genocide of all time.

there is A REASON the world came together and codified it.
