Israel is under attack

I’m with you. I’ve stepped out of the debate on Facebook and backing out here as well.
Tho I support Israel’s right to defend itself I understand the debate from both sides. And find it tragic that all the innocent civilians on both sides of the issue are dying for the far right extremist policies of their respective governments.

Religion is a default mode of group cohesion. It's difficult to separate from group identity.

In this case the hot conflict is about the stolen land thing, which is a real slight in modern history, however mutual and recursive on a larger scale. The religion serves as a group marker.

If people didn't form groups they wouldn't care about this stuff, but that's a hypothetical species entirely.

Idk something like that - they'll always find a reason to fight. Religion may be an accelerant but it certainly would still be bloodshed over the past millenia of infighting between groups of people fighting for their people to be on top of the pile.

They all need a strong dose of MDMA in my humble opinion. But even then, I have little faith that small area will ever know peace until one tribe moves or is eliminated.

You're right that nobody has a special claim to the land but the point is that in the 1950s people were forced from their homes, those people were the Palestinians whose descendants are now in the west bank and Gaza and that process is still happening. The just thing is to stop pushing people from their homes and live in peace. The Israeli don't have a special claim to the land so they also should be able to have laws that ensure that certain people are never allowed there based on ancestry

I believe in letting children sort their problems out for themselves. I don't think exterminating them because of their squabbles is the best idea. I'm sure such a button is theoretically possible until some assholes take up those identities and try to re-settle that land under the guise of them being 1/1028 Palestinian/Israeli on their moms side.

There may be genetic differences explaining varying rates of functioning civilization, violence and secularism.
